Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I'm worried about layoffs

Can we talk about something other than RTO? I understand for some people it's a deal-breaker but there are those of us who don't have any issues with it. I'm much more worried about the possibility of more layoffs sometime soon, something very few people are discussing. Can we focus on that for a while, please?

If the company does not show respect for those who really want to stay, how could they pursuit employee to respect their goal and vision to the future

After 11+ years working here, one thing I've learned is layoffs will never stop. It's not a matter of if, its a matter of when. Eventually almost everyone gets laid off.

There is nothing to gained by worrying about being promoted to customer as my first manager used to say about associates who were let go. Your not essential to the Bank no matter what your told. It's very rare you will get notice if they want you in the street. If you're really afraid of being let go do the following. Pay down debt, work any overtime offered and bank the extra money. Keep your resume updated on your home computer. I worked in a department at the bank many years ago and they would do call listening sessions with the reps screen movements being visable. When the call came in what was the rep doing, working on her resume for a position at another bank. I learned a very important lesson a long time ago. If you lose this job life goes on and you'll find another one. Considering the glut of unfilled jobs at all levels the new job can be found.

the bank will cut costs and continue this passive approach of sub par talent gathering (via visa or or outsourcing). It's a YoY profit margin that they need to meet. you are just an expense at the end of the day. It doesnt matter where you are...if the need arises you will be let go. You dont get a purple heart for going in...you are still a very good candidate for a layoff...
That said...this RTO is a golden opportunity to hit 2 birds with 1 stone...layoffs en mass and no need to pay packages if people leave because of RTO.

I'm guessing the board is busy with RTO because it is abundantly clear that the company is planning to use the RTO policy to reduce layoffs and therefor the expense of providing a package. My own manager has told me this. The company was discussing layoffs (to occur this summer) at the beginning of the year. By mid year, they adopted this RTO policy and are no longer discussing layoffs (at least not openly).
So if you are OK with RTO and you are vaccinated and you have logged that into the tool, you probably already have a return date...and if you are an OK performer you are probably fine for whatever the next round of layoffs will ultimately be. You will have proven your loyalty....and trust me, this is a test of your loyalty.
