Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Stay away from XOM

To those who are still contemplating on joining XOM, be forewarned, it's a very toxic environment, it's not worth it. It will be like selling your soul for 30 pieces of silver.

This is everything anybody who's considering any of the available jobs at XOM needs to know. Take it from people who've known this company at its best - you don't want to join when it's at its worst.

Stop the whining and do your job. Your getting paid to do office work. Your ancestors are turning in their graves listening to these complainers, grow up!

@OP It’s transactional.

I use the employer for a paycheck and to gain “experience” and they use me for what they hired me to do. When I get to where I want to be financially, I jump to the next company. Rinse, wash, and repeat until I retire. I gave my last fu-k a long time ago.

Moral of the story: XOM will use and drain you, so use and drain them too.

The company is not even close to what it used to be. Political correctness, a really bad PDS program and arrogant managers, entitled millennial‘s make for a bad situation to get into. Steer clear from oil and gas and especially ExxonMobil.

What are you talking about? They have great I&D programs, great networks for people that are just starting, very good salary and benefits package and some of the best employees you could ever want to work with. They are one of the last good companies.

Saw a sign at the restaurant the other day about the greatest compliment one can give them is to tell a friend or family member about the place. I wouldn’t tell anybody to come and work for for ExxonMobil. I might tell a person a really dislike though : )

Those XOM jobs listed on here are probably fake. Being used to find out which employee is looking for new job. Which will be used against them in the next Performance Eval.

Stay away!
No training
Immoral tactics
No real future, in order to consistently rank high, you must find yourself a 'sponsor' and be prepared to play games.
Zero integrity
Managers lie to their managers and to auditors. It's one evil hot mess.
Systems are archaic and redundant. Hours are spent 'spinning' stories to satisfy the egos of so called sponsors and other dictators running the show.

It's a complete embarrassment to say I even work here and I rank extremely well.

Do yourself a favour and DO NOT enter!!!

I've considered creating a throw-away LinkedIn account just so I can comment on the many XOM postings going up on that platform and warn people to stay the he-l away. The people posting and promoting them are straight up lying in their descriptions of the company and probably the roles, too.

When I loose something it is usually bowels. PPT required for meetings are critical, we have courses to train you on how to use the correct templates and logos to prevent pre-meeting catastrophe. Being in a meeting is important, if you are not invited you should worry you will be put on PIP. Speak up and listen too, management likes eager beavers not grumpy people. If you are performing operational work, you need to figure out how to make it look pretty on a PPT slide. Now get back to work, I want to hear those keyboards clicking, and the mice too.

For the people thinking about joining any O&G I have a few key points to make .
Age discrimination is very real and PIP is used to get the employee out the door.
Operational work is not appreciated as much as PowerPoints and meeting.
Nothing is anaymous.This includes surveys.
HR will not protect the employee.
You will never win a lawsuit. Their pockets are deep and can pay for the judgement they want.

Lol WTF would join this company nowadays anyway? Management is the only one who didn’t realize they are the NOT employer of choice anymore. Anyone who decides to either join or stay is just gambling that things might go back to “normal” one day but guess what, they are loosing all of their experienced employees that could do something about it in the future. Good luck to whoever decides to stay here.
