Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

No RTO this year

Who wants to bet there'll be no return to the office this year? Judging by the news and the decisions other companies have been making, I don't see Chevron going against every other company and pushing the issue before next year. Which works perfectly for me and I'm sure plenty more employees.

It's a d-mb move to do this. It's causing a ton of distraction and anxiety in the workplace from those who do not want the vax, medically cannot take the vax, or are opposed to the vax for faith reasons. This is a considerable amount of the workforce as shown in the vax/unvaxxed reports.

People on this site are flippant and reply with "great, don't let the door hit you in the a**" but they fail to realize that Chevron has a great deal of investment, knowledge, and expertise tied up in these individuals and will lose all of this if they obtusely take the hardline of mandating the vaccine.

Armchair experts that repeat the "it's safe" talking point know as much truth as those they are repeating it from. Your very own doctors are just repeating lines they are told to repeat because they themselves are faced with punitive outcomes for questioning the safety and efficacy of the Covid vaccines.

What's wrong with Chevron's "There's always time to do it right" motto?

I also thought they would likely push to early 2022, but I also thought they would slow play any kind of vaccine mandate talk until after the FDA issued full approval, and to see how things would shake out with revised booster guidance. Now that they've issued the Nov 1st deadline for being fully vaccinated, it seems they are all-in on vaccines allowing for "safe" work spaces in close quarters.

My guess is they'll start phasing people back in during November & December. If not then, why be so aggressive with the vaccine deadline? (First dose of mRNA vaccine will need to be taken no later than mid-September)

Yes, most office personnel, that do not have to travel to a work site, are omitted from this round of mandates but the writing is on the wall.

It's extremely unlikely that RTW will happen this year. If, like other surges, Delta runs its course around October, and assuming there isn't some other variant surge (get vaccinated, people!), it'll be too late in the year to RTW anyways - too many people will be "on vacation" (isn't that another name for WFH, anyways?). We all know no important decisions are made in November or December, so why force people back into the office?. Also, the confusion surrounding (first) booster vaccines, and (second) kids 2-11 getting approved for the vaccine (late in the year?) will create more distractions from the RTW decision. Unfortunately, get ready for more "entertaining" DP emails and meetings.

No return to office ever because chevron can’t get their sh-t together to make a decision and goes every which way the wind blows on the day and what ever scientific article is published or medical consultant has their ear…or is it because we “care too much”. Whichever. Same outcome. Paralysis by analysis and conservatism driven by fear or employee care will dictate outcome or lack of decision to RTW. if not delta, there’s lambda and so on and so on. COVID won’t be going away and will continue its path. WFH indefinitely is A solution to it all.

This is about as insightful as looking outside and telling me whether or not it’s raining.
