It’s now official. GOM is requiring all offshore and business critical workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Deadline to comply is November 1.

Offshore guys certainly do put costs low on the list. I doubt any cost has ever been given any consideration.

Relax. Offshore guys will comply as they comply with every other policy…it what they do and put the actual drilling of the well, operations and costs low on their to do list. Because that’s what CVX wants and cares about. Will hardly get their boots dirty because the paperwork mound keeps building and they can easily hide behind the monitors (and supposed masks offshore) as they third party out the work to the rig contractors and service folks. It’s a brave new world.
It doesn't. With the falling efficacy all it does is allow DP and company to check a box. The reality of it is that we are fast becoming a dystopian bureaucratic movie like 1984, or Brasil, or novel by Camus or Kafka. No one really cares why, or how valid the argument against is, they just know that the box on line #39 is not checked and it needs to be checked. They could not recite what the question is on line #39 for a million dollars, only that it must be checked.
Who said anything about actually getting the vax? That's not even an option.
What I am saying is they're okay with you faking your vax card because it helps their mass vaccination cause.
You're not proving anything by being a coward and submitting to the unapproved experimental test vaccine except that you are a pathetic little subservient spineless sheep.
How does being vaccinated make offshore safer? If your vaccinated you still pop positive for Covid, you just may not get sick! No matter what if you are vaccinated or not they have to send you home! So why the vaccine to work??

That might have flown when the company was going to operate on a voluntary basis, with little effort to actually verify vaccination status.
Once full mandates are in, digital passport systems will be created to increase ability to track and verify. Your information will be in a database and matched with vaccine data sources. Trying to spoof the system will get you fired, and possibly face criminal charges.
Unfortunately, no way out of this one...so long as you want to be employed.
No problem. A card showing I’m vaccinated is what you want to see? Give me 10 minutes to print out the little CDC card template I have saved in my documents folder and fill it out for you. I was just waiting for you to ask me for it.

It takes all types, not everyone can be a leader, but following and supporting those that push back against calls to submit are also heroes.
Some of us knew it the moment we were told to stop thinking and just do, others will require 3, 4, or 5 or more boosters to reach that painful conclusion.

If you're critical to the business then they should value your long-term health as well.
Even if you've decided that the Covid vaccination is right for you make Chevron put it into writing that they are liable for vaccine injury and will cover all expenses that insurance will not. (Which is everything after the diagnosis of vaccine induced injury) You owe it to yourself, your family, and anyone else you provide for. State that you're getting the vaccination under duress as it is required for your job.
