Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Everyone is replaceable, but....

I have never experienced BofA replacing someone who left with a better employee. Have you? Replacements are always less productive, slower employees, who care less about both their work and this bank. Instead of a colleague who was a great employee, there is now a person for whom I don't even know how he got the job here.

@mny+1cq0efRl OP didn't mention H1B. i think you are misrepresenting or misunderstanding their point. Most H1B resources that arrive are intelligent and learn well, but absolutely unpolished unless they have had good exposure before. The same absolutely cannot be said for the full time offshore. 1 in 10 is worth keeping around and the rest are a drain on productivity.

And as for onshore hires that aren't using H1B, age/gender/ethinicity also doesn't matter here, 9 in 10 are strong resources and can hit the ground running.

PS. I shouldn't have to explain to someone with 5+ years of Java experience that has a "Masters Degree" the difference between an abstract class and an interface in java. Maven also shouldn't be a surprise technology for a Java developer

Post ID: @qbb+1cq0efRl I know right, just look at all the employees we hire in India or we bring here via H1B visa, all young, energetic and willing to learn anything, including English. I wish we could outsource HR to them too, it would make the hiring process a lot smoother. I noticed my previous post got deleted and decided to be nicer now, you fv.king cvunt.

Not true - have seen lots of old, tired, worn-out, do nothings replaced with young people with energy, ambition and willingness to learn. There comes a time when some people need to be replaced.

Usually the person brought on board is a friend or somebody's connection who is a dum.ba$$ and has to play the game to fit in, not rock the boat or disrupt the pecking order. Politics trumps economics. Smart ones don't last long, they get the experience and get out.
