There were layoffs announced today. A lot of folks who were not expecting it got hit or notified they will be hit by year end. Today’s layoffs were concentrated around the marketing organizations centered on tier two clients. They crossed all marketing organizations not just HW. The decision point seems to be on shrinking direct tier two account coverage by vending it all to partners. AK’s hybrid strategy is to concentrate on tier 1 Fortune 500 installations. That was the active 370 strategy when he hired into IBM way back when, with minor support for other niche related products (typewriters come to mind). I guess we can say what goes around comes around. We just changed the product mix slightly adding Redhat for typewriters and harvesting the IP content of previous legacy investments.
I am reposting this from @siv+1cq2pkK4 for info and for people who keep living with their heads stuck in the sand and keep claiming there are no layoffs happening.
