Has anyone who submitted a job accommodation actually received a response or update from the JA team?

I received an email (just like an earlier post here) that said my request was progressing and I would hear something next week. I hope that means JA approved and now onto director approval. I submitted on 8-16-21

@3vub+1ctPQCyj And @3sgp+1ctPQCyj are correct. The request must first be approved a.k.a. meet the criteria which is decided by the JA team. If it doesn’t meet the criteria then it’s set onto the manager for final determination on whether or not the requested accommodation can be granted without negatively impacting the employees job. If so the manager approves it in grants it if not the manager can decline it even though It met the criteria the JA team is using.

Stop acting like your local supervisor is making the decision for approving an exemption. The local supervisor has to help determine what accommodation is possible for your job position but not the grounds for exemption. You really think the legal department is going to let your supervisor make judgments on this?

Most of the people posting stuff on this board have no idea what they are talking about or are purposely posting nonsense. Whatever you decide to do, don’t do it because some Goober on this site posted it.

"As a supervisor of an employee who submitted a JA for religious beliefs I can confirm it does not go directly to supervisor for approval."

As an L3 with 21+ years supervising direct reports..I can confirm otherwise for religious belief accommodations. The employee submits it thru the JA portal but the JA team is simply a "pass thru".

As a supervisor of an employee who submitted a JA for religious beliefs I can confirm it does not go directly to supervisor for approval. I can see my DRs requests and they are still pending JA review for their approval. If approved by JA team then it will route to me to have the final say on whether or not the accommodation can be met.

Anyone looking to avoid the vaccine mandate by an approved job accommodation is going to be very disappointed! This what happens...

Employee submits medical JA request...
Request is assigned to a JA specialist..
The JA specialist contacts the employee to obtain supporting documentation..
JA specialist reviews the request to determine if it is medically supported and notifies the employee and the supervisor with their decision....
If it's not supported then the request is denied...
If it's medically supported then the supervisor determines whether or not the request can be accommodated..(wait for it)... 99.99% of the time the answer is NO...citing needs of the business, essential job functions, etc...

Religious JA request go directly to the supervisor. The decision will be swift and will be NO!

Bottom line if you're a management employee and want to remain with AT&T get your shot! Frankly if you decide to put your feet to the pavement and walk rather than get vaccinated but you still need to work for a living, you're so screwed unless you plan on picking up cans for a living. The Supreme Court doesn't appear to be against employers requiring vaccinations as a condition of employment so good luck finding a job similar in pay or benefits without having to be vaccinated.

JA team will review each request, determine if it meets their requirements then notify your supervisor who has the final decision

@2upf+1ctPQCyj I’ve heard they have an unprecedented amount of requests. They were not planning on so much resistance.

@2buq+1ctPQCyj They aren't even going to read them. They will wait to see how many they get, and if the amount is small just approve them all. Why should they spend any money on admin or legal disputes if the percentage is low. That is why no one has got a response yet after two weeks.

I submitted my request the day they announced the mandate. Haven’t heard anything-still says in progress on the portal. Supposed to be completed on 14 days and today is day 13 so they are clearly dragging their feet.

@1aun+1ctPQCyj Employers are very limited in what they can ask about religious beliefs. Your references to people of various faiths being vaccinated is also a mute point. Religious beliefs are personal and can vary person to person. And your final comment about if you have ever had a vax you’re out of luck is also a false statement. Most of us were vaxxed as a child when we could not decide for ourselves. People find their spiritual beliefs at various stages in life. Perhaps you should learn the law and gain an understanding of personal spirituality is an how everyone has their own path the find their faith.

Anyone can ask you, you do not have to answer and you will have to deal with the consequences. Jehovah's witnesses are getting vaccinated, Muslims are also getting vaccinated so are the Jews, Scientology, Born Again, Methodist etc... unless you are Amish or someone who's never received any vaccinations in your life, chances of you getting accommodated for "religious" purposes is close to none.

@1rfz+1ctPQCyj Actually yes I would conduit intrusive the same as if someone asked do I have HIV. Medical information is no one’s business but their own.

" Since the Pope said get the Vaccine most Catholics are out of luck justifying getting out of it."

Do you actually think that all of the people filing these are going to be truthful? Many will simply be submitting whatever fits the no vax narrative. The company has no way to verify and cannot ask for proof.

It is so funny that this has become a "privacy" issue. Before COVID, if someone had asked whether you had gotten a flu shot or ever been vaccinated against polio, would you have considered that an intrusive, personal question?

Post from TheLayoff.com

It’s not “getting the vaccine” that’s the issue. It’s providing that information to AT&T when it has absolutely nothing to do with one’s ability to perform their job (especially if a full time telecommuter). This is not a vaccine issue, it’s a privacy issue!!

It now appears as though all hippa regulations and laws are now not in effect. That being the case I would like t see our ATT executive leadership team disclose all their health records including but not limited to their convid19 Vaccinations. They should disclose and provide medical evidence of their vaccination date, when, where and what vaccination they were given. Then all of those that applied and were given or denied accommodations should be published as to what their individual medical or personal reasons were. If we are going to be so demanding of this information let’s publish all if it with no exceptions. In communist countries the leadership does not lead by example, only by dictatorial directions. The country has not yet fallen to that yet but ATT has. I do not want to offend anyone by this post but let’s be honest.

@vic+1ctPQCyj Stepping into a church or opening a bible has nothing to do with one’s spiritual beliefs. Christianity is also not the only religion.

All of the JA requests need to be carefully scrutinized. So many employees who haven’t seen the inside of a church or opened a Bible in over 15 years are requesting a religious exemption. LOL

I see the FAQs have been updated to indicate that if your JA is declined they will give you ample time to get vaccinated if you can’t do it by October 11.
