Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

They have no clue on how people get work done

Through various re-orgs, I am the only person in my team in my city, state, and time zone. Going to the office and work from home isn’t any different. I actually worked longer hours at home, getting in on early meetings when I would be commuting. I’m extending these flexibilities to my team and customers. I would be less effective in the office, pretty sure many people are in the same boat.

I don’t mind going back to office, no skin off my back. What is ironic is these executives who scream in person collaboration like it was magic bullet to solve all problems. They obviously have no clue on how people get work done.

For those who say jobs will be farmed out to India if remote work can satisfy the requirements. In office jobs are being outsourced all the same. If you think that you have some influence over these decisions by going to the office, hate to burst your bubble, that is a mistake. Better invest the energy to find a new job and determine your own destiny.

Bumped from @syp+1cs67041 for being on point.

My favorite thing about these S T U P I D collaboration zones: No quiet! I have people talking loud on calls, and people in groups talking loud and laughing, and I am trying to concentrate doing something that can impact customer service and if I make a mistake I would be flogged.

And now every time some sneezes, the others in the room are ready to burn them at the stake! Personally, I would have supported that prior to China Virus when someone was flatulent.

I think the Stink should give up his private office, which BTW is an entire floor, and have to work in one of these S H I T holes for a week.

Those of you who tout ‘overtime’ and 6 figures as though that’s extraordinary. It’s not. Take a look at what ATT pays salaried, talented, professionals for technology positions and I don’t mean entry level account managers. We don’t have hourly jobs; we’re paid a salary, bonus and sometimes commission. Of course, these positions routinely require Masters, a Bachelors minimally in a highly sought after discipline.
Education, hands down, positions you for greater upward mobility with any company. Like you said, ‘don’t hate the playa….’ Playa.

"Why does it apparently get under your skin when people earn degrees? Anytime there’s an opportunity to learn, improve, earn advanced skills, that is a good thing. Taking advantage of any skills based opportunity should be viewed as a benefit; instead you attempt to ridicule those who see these as positives. Maybe you should reassess why you’re still in the same job after so many years."

Because I make 6 figures every year.
First choice of 240 hrs of vaca.
Can refuse OT.
Dibs on travel.
Cheap insurance.
40 hrs or 100 hrs. My call.
Maybe you should figure out why you don't.
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I am winning.
You seem jealous.

The pesky mo--s and voles are back again. Using any excuse in an attempt to make an ATT Layoffs discussion about politics is sooo boring and worthless. The election is over. He LOSS. Calling people crude names like ‘jerkoffs’ and calling COVID ‘the Wuhan’ virus tells us who you are. I know it’s not in your character but do try to show some level of manners on the forum.

They're going to get SO MUCH LESS out of me if I have go to the office every day. I'll just lock my laptop to the desk, put in my 8 hours and jet. the work will be there tomorrow.

also - collaborate in person is such bu-----t. everyone I work with is spread all over, not one person in my same office.

Got to agree - how many US based employees, in office location since 2015 when Ratty started the carnage were rebaged and after training their Mumbai U replacements, the jobs are now housed in offices in India. A good precentage of the 45,000 US employees wacked since 2015.

The only people that needed to be wacked were Ratty for wasting $100B and Stinky for being a J E R K O F F.
