Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What miracle needs to happen for this to start working well?

It is not just POS. It is literally like everything we touch. Our gmail goes down. Our calendar goes down. Slack goes down. Salesforce goes down. Those aren’t even VZ branded platforms. When they aren’t down, they are slow! In some cases, the network is slower at the office than remote! Why are there so many platforms of POS? Retail OMNI, Indirect Omni, B360, etc? Nothing works right with this company. :post ID @1pfh+1cuwSN4J

That's right, nothing works well here. I wonder if these things will ever be properly fixed?

Vz never had a culture of competence. India was always a boondoggle. Significant turnover in the leadership ranks and many would take a package including their bosses

If you are a grunt, quit while you are ahead

Turnover IT organization completely to Infosys including the VPs. Thats the only solution.

When 95% of our IT is offshore contractors who don't work US hours - this is the outcome.
I realize that accounting thinks that the cost of 8 offshore contractors equal to 1 onshore employee...
What is missed is that the output of those 8 contractors is actually less than the 1 onshore employee. This is exacerbated when the offshore team is not available after 11 am ET, any meeting requires 7-10 of them to attend, each meeting takes 15-20 minutes to get started, and they don’t understand the business well enough to think beyond what is right in front of them.

Simple - Bring the onshore talent back to VZ.

I wish VZ could get our quoting system to work properly. It took me an hour to turn around a quote that only should have taken 15 minutes.

Well, this is what happens when some dingbat offers a blanket voluntary separation package and the best and the brightest of the organization leaves for a company with legitimate leadership and a plan for the future. Then, our checked out C-suite outsourced out IT and critical support teams. You and I are paying the price for Hans’ cost-cutting initiatives. All so Hans can make $83K a day.

Just Google Infosys and their reputation and you will know all you need to know. When they rebadged IT to a cut rate W.I.T.C.H. company (google it) this was the result.

This is a result of laying off full time IT employees and replacing with contractors and VZ India.

It is what those platforms run on or have to run through to work. The network. Maybe we have a great one outside but inside it doesnt seem so much.
My phone works many times better accessing some of our sites we access compared to in office or through vpn.

Any "fix" will just make things worse. Been that way for years, don't see that changing.
