US engineering job posting BRRF

I think mgmt must have overdone it. Now we have a posting for a 5 yr engineer at Baton Rouge. This is so sad and funny at the same time.

I'm surprised we're not just contracting all Engineer work.
Engineers are almost scientists, some of them.
Not a core need. Really against the grain now.
Could really do damage going forward as employees.

Hard to turn the ship around when you run it full steam ahead into a Rock pile. Worked great in the Navy but the navy had leaders. Unfortunately we have managers.

@1jsm+1cyzUYKJ You are probably right. Knowing the history of some of these managers and their past failures prior to and including the management gigs then often wondering why they are even still with the company.

Now it all makes sense. Overachievers at something and I guess this proves it but then again I think both of us are giving them entirely too much credit. This is a direct result of their incompetence

Ironically, this could bode well for the local management - 1. Overachieving head count reduction (leaving a ho-e), worthy of company reward; 2. Plugging the ho-e, another worthy achievement. Anyone believes that EM has reached its lowest point? Keep digging. LOL

Micromanage and fabricate pip much or maybe it’s the management/GL stealing ideas for their own personal gain. Maybe it’s all the lame discipline lead meetings or maybe it’s the misdirection/ mismanagement of the group by and for manager pds bullets and career gain. Maybe it’s the toxic work environment or the lack of team due to stacking anti pip bullets in order to survive. Maybe it’s all the ludicrous comments from the dh? Maybe it’s the dh announcing that engineering will be cut in half over the next 3 years. They wanted cuts and they got em. No sympathy here. What a cluster and a mess. This will take many years to recover from if at all. Here’s a clue, you have the wrong people in management, discipline group lead and the dh positions both in chemicals and refining. Hold management accountable for once or pip them out of here. Forget this place!

A lot of truth in this post. Most accurate assessment I’ve seen in this board.

Mismanagement at best! Glad it’s not the Valdez. Oozing engineers instead of oil.

Better with the devil that you DON’T know (hire) than the devil you do know (pip)!!! Besides, the new person might be management material

Cmon people it's simply to line the bottom ranks. If they don't fill it then everyone moves down including dhs and sups bordering on very good.

I saw a posting today for a Sr planning engineer at Baytown… what’s going on? Why are we PIP’ing experienced people to hire people from the outside?
