Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Teams are getting thinner

In the past year, five people left our team and two were brought on. The amount of work remains the same, of course. This seems to be the plan behind the latest PIP cuts - slowly reduce the number of people to determine how low you can go and still get the work done. And all of us are going along with it by picking up extra work, no questions asked.

@1ueq+1cz5nNVP In the same boat. My hair is thinner and greyer. More and more often wondering if it's worth it. Getting ever closer to an answer of No with no hope for Yes.

With the thinning of personnel, so does my hair. Anybody out there in the same situation as I.

The teams may be thinner but the ratio of managers to workers continues to decrease. Also the nonsense and overworking of obvious issues continues. It is time to cull the management so it is more in line with the lower number of workers.

Thinning is only the beginning. Next up, only skeleton left. Thereafter, going out a few limbs. Eventuality will surprise most but only a few.

I see the people that have been holding up the MSP situation starting to leave now.

Time for reality.

Just before the massive "PIP" / Layoff in July 2020, there was a team working somewhat behind the scenes under the name "Doing Less with Less". The files were mostly open source on the various SharePoint sites and suggested many things would drop off the worklists for refining and chemicals support staff. It outlined some positions that would go away since most of the projects were going away and sites were really heavy with engineers in training for those projects. Fast forward through the layoffs and projects are still cancelled, headcount is down, but the base level of junk being pushed through the remaining staff at the sites is higher than it was before. KLTC and BTC engineers, for the most part, still can't function at 100% as an independent contributor for the site process engineering roles they are trying to emulate / replace. This brings efficiency down for the beaten and broken folks left in the US because they are still stuck trying to train their replacements overseas. Sounds like that team of managers only met 50% of their "Less with Less" goal.

Planning for asset sale or outscoring to KL or BTC. Good question-what happens to sups and first level managers?

I really, honestly hope you’re just a troll. But your viewpoint “aligns” perfectly with the EM management, it it’s showing everybody why this company is doomed.

If you have time to post on TL.com, you must not have enough work to do. The purge of the bottom 10% shall continue until productivity increases!

As the saying goes, do less with more than they will msp your group.

Don't forget to apply a cold, mechanical, relative assessment process to demotivate 1/2 of the remaining employees. That will really prove their performance.

Sounds like we need more layers of management to optimize the work distribution
