Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Target groups

Is it true that those who haven’t been here much longer than a year are also just as likely to be targeted for cuts as are older employees with years of experience?
That's what I heard from several colleagues.

It's true that USB couldn't care less about you. Never worked for a company where managers and peers cared so little about others. Must be the constant re-orgs that prevents the feeling of team. So many people just looking out for themselves. Mostly looking forward to leaving.

We will see what the plan is by the end of this week.

Good luck for all those hoping for one outcome or the other.

Simply put 'Yes',. They could care less about you

Why perform a layoff? Just ask people to come back into the office and require vaccination. Will get the right headcount adjustment without having to push a button.

Look at your pay grade - if you are past the half way point of your range and you have not been promoted - your name goes to the first list for RIF.

Example: If your range is 40-60 K and you are making 53K it means you are not promotion material (at the 50K point you should be promoted) and you can be replaced with a 45K worker. Also if your promotion is approved it will be to 55K at the next level entry point - since the pay grades overlap at a ridiculous rate making it possible to be two grades higher yet making the same as the person two grades below.

Not in my experience. It's more about ROI, meaning they more often cut people who have been there long enough to have risen to higher salaries in their pay grade. If you were hired with a higher salary than others with your skill level or you are not living up to what they expected, don't be surprised if you do get cut. They prefer to get much more from employees than they pay for.

This is a yearly ritual at this company. As a new employee, you need to get used to this. Yes, you are just as likely to be cut as any other person. Management is a terrible mess. It takes about twenty years for USB to grasp any modern Management philosophy. They have a ridiculous number of Management levels. They sacrifice actual workers to maintain their cushy positions, when they should be eliminating themselves.
