Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What's With Space Division on 59th Ave in Glendale, AZ

I am retired from the Engines division. I was driving up 59th Ave and saw a banner attached to the big Honeywell sign out front. It said something like: "Come join our Glendale facility" ... an invitation to apply and hire on. What gives? Did they win a new contract or did too many people leave? Just wondering. I hope people know what they are getting into if they do join.

You sure that wasn't a For Sale sign?

I just got email today saying they filled that HW Position for reliability with candidate whose more qualified. That is a joke because no one is more qualified than me for I was there 38 yrs. Age discrimination and politics !

I thought space business leadership recently left, no GM and no CFO. When upper management leaves, good indication that there is no future!

Aero Olathe Kansas has a sign visible from the Highway. They just dropped the sign over the regular Honeywell building sign. 😂

Signs are up at several valley facilities. They're desperate for employees.

@tbp+1d07Gk1w: OP here. The sign is still there. It is south facing so you have to be driving north on 59th Ave to see it. The exact words are: "Come join our Glendale Team". So they are trolling for another crop of RIF bait candidates. The game never changes.

I was one of the engineers with "specialized skills" at the Space division but I was on loan from Deer Valley. The program was off in left field when I joined. Fortunately, I was able to get them back on track within a few months. I'm certainly not mocking others on the program but the low level managers were incompetent. They tried to push me around a bit but I wasn't having any of that cr-p my skills were needed too badly.

Unless upper management (VP level) knows of you very specifically, anyone is replaceable. I know of a couple of guys that got promoted to Fellow in the last 5 years based on their associations with this level of management.

The management and the facility is rotting in Glendale.
In one of the most recent town halls, they had a slide dedicated to rat infestation… which they blamed on employees. Depending on what part of the building you are in, there are likely to be cockroaches as well.
The funniest bit is, the rats and the cockroaches aren’t the worst thing about working at Glendale.

That place used to be the crown jewels of Sperry (Honeywell) and Allied Signal until that big fat slob Cote took over.

It then became a metrics driven what have you done for me lately kinda place with rapidly deteriorating benefits (robbed employees of their retirement plan) sweat shop.

they are so cheap they even took away the crummy cafeteria and expect employees to drive through taco shops and run back to work.

The worst part is the talent there is second to none in the satellite component industry. Uncle sam is probably worried how after the last old timer leaves who's gonna help them with critical mission success.

I tried to re-apply for my old rel engineer job . No response because in 2019 I was thrown out after 38 yrs when I got in the face of my new manager (old manager who I knew as a friend 30 yrs was let go by the "burning platform" thing they did) who had no clue of our job duties and showed distane for our 4 member local rel group. The plant manager and HR manager who threw me out were "new" arrivals from Deer Valley and Airport.

As far as Glendale goes, they deserve what they get. It is mostly an older population that is retiring rapidly if they weren't already let go. The space division is unique in that there are specialized skills required that you won't find off the street. Unfortunately management there doesn't respect that and as others have said believe in intimidation, wage freezes, PIPS and whatever it takes to get rid of top talent. Maybe if another satellite is lost in space will they realize what they have done. Probably not.

Yeah, saw a guy with an arrow he was spinning around pointing to a facility to apply for jobs, he personally prefers to work for that temp agency than this dribble company

Too many people were laid off in July 2020. Honeywell treats its people so badly that they are leaving in droves. Honeywell's well-earned reputation for low pay, regular layoffs, no promotions, laughable "benefits", mandated minimum 50-hour work weeks, good ol' boy network, intimidation and fear management style, and greedy fools without a clue running the place have pretty much kept the best and brightest from coming on board. I've seen four contractors ghost the place on what was supposed to be day 1 of work. And now the most senior experienced people are retiring or going someplace else where they can actually have a real career.

Help wanted signs in Olathe too. Every week more people tender their resignations and its even hard to find temps who want to work here. Most of the temps we are now getting have no education or experience in electronics.

The word is that Cedar Creek will be offloaded by year's end due to cost cutting and now the final nail in the coffin will be the vaccine mandates. Last count was that approx. 160 people will not take the vaxxes. Cap'n Ahab-S.K. rarely comes out of his office now as he prepares to scuttle the Pequod. If you thought 2020 was bad then just wait for the 2nd half of 2022!

The same sign is located at the Clearwater site. Made me sick looking at it.

OP,
the sign is not there,
I looked on my way home from a
8 hour + 3 free EEI hours + eat lunch at my desk
kinda day.

Maybe somebody decent
burned the sign off the building with incendiary mortars,
or sn---r-shot the supporting ropes off.

Either way, I don't see the sign,
but didn't look that closely because my commute to home is 1 hour each way.

And I don't care that much after the cruel and unusual employment destroyed my productivity, self esteem, marriage, and relationship to my children.

Hang on for further texts on my drive home,
as I crack open my cooler for a beer.
