Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Shall I quit?

I am from CS organization at low cost GBC.
Joined as experience hire, have been with company for 5 years.
Total working experience is 10 years, age 33.
My sup told me I just have been marked as hipo and she will raise my CL to 25 at the end of this year.
Age 33 with CL25 is too behind?

Shall I quit or stay?

If you keep using good grammar like that, you'll never make 26.
Wistful thinkin.

Leave because your supervisor lied to you.

Why does everyone have to aspire to be a VP? Why can’t you find a location that gives you somewhat rewarding work for a decent salary and be happy?

You will always be branded as an “experienced hire” which will limit your CL to 26. As an experienced hire, you are excluded from hipo no matter what one supervisor tells you. Also, it doesn’t matter what your supervisor tells you, until it happens, it is subject to change. More likely your supervisor is not telling you the truth to get you to stay, your supervisor is moving to a different job early next year and their replacement will be the one to tell you that the CL 25 is not happening. Regretted attrition counts against the supervisor, so if you leave next year, it won’t count against your current supervisor because they will be in a different job when you find out the CL 25 isn’t happening.

if you are in the GBC, it's not likely they consider you for VP level (what HiPo reads as for some locations). which might be ok if you yourself do not have that ambition either. CL25 in my location would be very good one and after 10 years it would be a great result.

Ask yourself what is the job that you would like to have. do you see a way how you could grow into that? if so, there are reasons to stay. on the other hand, if you struggle to think of the job you would like to have within EM, maybe there's no point in staying.

CL dont align globally. CL25 at 33 YEars in the GBC is not too bad at all. More of a concern is that most of Customer Service is being outsourced…

You should quit if you get a better salary offer. What does it matter if you are hipo or not if another company is giving you 20-30% increment right now to jump over?

You are in a low cost service center so the US CL do not apply. CLs are salary bands and so a 25 there may be high for someone with 10 years and 33. I wonder a little what a hipo is in a service center. I think of a hipo as EVP or VP or President. I am not sure those jobs apply in your situation.
