Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Lots of complaints about having to pay but no mention of actually how much that will be. How much are we talking about? I have worked in a few different places and it was anywhere from $200-400 a month to park. Tell us how much it will be.

@1wyr That’s because it’s a campus. Virtually all campuses have free lots and garages. CIC in Charlotte, Ft Mill Campus, San Antonio campus, Des Moines campus, etc., all free. We are talking about areas that are downtown in HUBS mostly.

Another way to get the bloodsuckers, I mean California employees, to leave. I have never felt like management hated it's employees until this crowd. I wonder how much attrition will be enough

@1dpu What are you talking about? OP is talking about DRIVING to Concord and parking near the office, not commuting via BART to Concord. A couple people mentioned BART but not in a context that justified your nonsensical post. Maybe go back and reread the thread.

Have any of you actually commuted on Bart in the last year? Passenger traffic is down 80% and the lots are empty. Please stfu. Know of you know what you’re talking about

I've never seen a company so brazenly and relentlessly torch its workers. Never.

Yes, yes, yes, we could all shut up and quit. But what about WF's role in all thus? Where is WF's accountability?

Hostile relationships never work.
WF isn't getting the best out of angry, beaten down employees. WF needs some employees to still be standing, even if they sell it off.

In short: Bitterness, anger and frustration sound like a recipe for sabotage and failure, NOT success.

@1haj the WFA parking lots are in St. Louis - just west of downtown.

The whole parking thing stinks - unless of course you're at a location that has a free lot. But those of us who are going to have to pay a lot of money to park are getting a serious pay cut. All this, plus the long commute, just to sit in a cube next to no one we know. That's assuming there are even enough cubes... I guess there's always sitting on the floor.

And before someone says ... what about before COVID ... didn't you pay for parking before COVID. The answer is no, no I did not. I've been working from home for a while now.

It always struck me as odd that the people who can afford to pay the high parking the most (like the C-Suite) get their parking comp'ed. Seriously this is chump change to them--they probably wouldn't even notice if they had to pay. But the people who could actually benefit from having free parking get to pay.

Move to Des Moines, IA. All the sites have parking lots and/or parking ramps that are free to employees.

Yeah, it went from "temporarily suspended during pandemic" to "FU employees, we lied to you".

Contacted RTO planning today about it and they said they will be sending out parking info to all WF employees in the coming weeks. Sounds like they had NO plan. WF is bleeding $$# and are gutting all benefits.

Where are the WFA buildings and parking lots?

I got a notice that the Concord garage location badge would be temporarily suspended until we return to the office, I've had to park with the public garage before, not too fun, but thankfully during summer so it was still light. It will be interesting, doing the neighborhood cube space.

For WFA, WFA still owns the lots and garages. What they tossed around was charging or giving the opportunity to employees to pay for reserved garage spots. No other Wells campus provides free reserved garage parking. This was to help level the playing field. The open lots would still be free. I think it would be okay to charge as long as that money was diverted back to tye employees. Maybe provide daycare on site or something?

@agf I agree Uptown Charlotte is probably worst. Because pre-pandemic there was a 3.5 yr waiting list to get a decent parking spot in uptown close to the main buildings. Thankfully the lightrail was an option for me. Funny addon: The garage I was on the list (for 2 yrs) called me last May and told me they had an opening...NO THANKS!

At the time, Wells Fargo owned the buildings and the parking lots. So they would have been making money off their own employees 🙄.

They kept saying that we were the only WFC site where employees could park for free. We also had assigned parking spots, and they wanted to take those away. The proposed plan was for employees to park on a first come first serve basis and charge us. The problem was that there were 2 very large parking garages, and 5 or more parking lots so it would have created a clusterF in traffic during rush hour. The whole thing was very poorly conceived, as usual.

That’s why I always say to fight them, with reason and logic, respectfully and in writing.
There are many opportunities to point out when their plans are I’ll-conceived, but you have to pick your battles.

Wells policy is clear that they don't pay for employee parking. Sounds like they are catching up

Wells pays for our parking. Not sure what's going on in SF. But I visited there once, and I truly saw enough.

No one gives a sh-t about nor cal. Gavin, Kamala, and Pelosi exporter. Can’t wait until Wells leaves California.

@OP Charlotte people have every right to say the same is happening here. Its 350 minimum for garage parking and our bldg is next to the bus station full of homeless people. Some CEO was shot in broad daylight blocks from the bldg on a WORK day afternoon before covid and I dont even wanna think about what it’s like AFTER covid started since lots of businesses went out and the homeless population exploded down there. I’m not bashing homeless, I’m concerned about what comes with that. Again, we have the same situation here as there so welcome to the club. Apparently, we don't carry as much weight as the wealth employees or they would have been paying for our parking long ago.

Those same conditions exist in a lot of cities. Lots of crime around our buildings in the city, still have to pay for parking. If you have a job that has you travel between buildings like some of tech, they schedule the first job closest to home so the rest is travel...but when you work every day in the same building, we aren't allowed to do that.

I've heard the same thing.... we're on our own on paying for Swift Plaza parking...

You can at least pay for parking on a pre-tax basis though WageWorks.

Why would they do that at WFA? I flew in there many times during the Wachovia merger and WFA had multiple parking lots and two garages for staff?

Start a carpool with the most responsible, vaccinated mask wearers that show up when you do and share the cost of the monthly parking.

They tried to do that at WFA in St. Louis several years back. Enough people sent in written complaints that they reversed course. We have a platform called Excellence First where you can direct a compliment or complaint about an employee or department to their manager/LOB. Managers take it seriously because stats go upstairs. I think you have something similar on the bank side???

State your case respectfully, but let them know how it impacts you. Pick your battles, but put all complaints/suggestions in writing, and be persistent. Best of luck.

Longer than 15 min. walk, too.

That area is not safe in the dark. And even if you can find a spot to park in the public garage far away, your car won't be their when you get back, windows will be smashed, and/or you'll be assaulted in the garage. No security, no gates, nothing but crime there. Horror stories about that public garage.

Wells Fargo is really showing how little they care about employees. Taking that parking away from staff in that location, while forcing RTO, is a gut punch. I'm sure execs are loving it -- more people will quit! Yay!

Read OP about WF move and assurances made, no available options, etc. Might need to Uber to/from EVERY work day. Unnecessary (if WF hadn't changed their minds) and unplanned expense. Bait and switch. Plain and simple.

I'm guessing many in other locations use Commuter $$$. Deadline passed for that already.

Try Minnesota in the winter. Talk about unsafe and desolate. I will have to pay $20 a day for parking. I don’t wNt to do it either. No choice

15 - 35 bucks a day where I am and it’s not anywhere near CA.

This is bad. Totally dishonest, too, given that WF promised employees they'd have a place to park that was comparable to Buchanan (close and covered like WF had done all the way up to pandemic).

Watch the CA bashing begin. Sh*tty colleagues who have always hated CA staff. Sick of it.

If you're in a city, chances are you have more options (you mentioned "close to office"). In the suburbs, not so much.

In Concord, it is dark and desolate in winter mos. and unsafe for women to park far away and walk 15 mins alone. In cities, there are lots of people commuting. In suburbs, we are almost always solo (late nights, etc.)

If you don't understand the area, perhaps don't comment. Compassion goes a long way during this transition.

OMG. This will be a dealbreaker for me. I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars per mo. Seems deceitful not to say anything to us and let us just find out on first day back that garage badges don't work.

Maybe they are doing it so they can write us all up for being late? WF seems desperate to find ways to terminate for cause to reach desired headcount.

This company is despicable.

We pay 24$ a day (8 hours) in the garages close to the WF building in my city. WF has never paid it-unless you are way up the rung in management.

That blows, I'm sorry. It's things like this that add up to a poorly thought out RTO plan.
