SAs downsizing / Click 2 Expert / Agile

This is happening in two phases.

Phase 1 - SAs will be in Click 2 Expert and AMs will engage you that way. It will be told to you that this is for metrics only. (There is a hidden agenda by EK and SEDs.)

Phase 2 is full Agile TSA. This is to reduce cost per head. The question you need to ask your SEM and SED is if there an initiative to reduce the cost of pre-sales engineering. Why are they not hiring or backfilling many of the SA positions.

SAs will be assigned a couple of solutions that they will focus on. No more development or career paths.

Go ahead and ask your SEM and SED.

EK and SEDs are getting pay increases while they reduce number of SAs.

This is accurate... PSS's are being put in C2E right now for "metrics". That is the only explanation given. No one except certain VP leaders thinks this good for employees or customers. Welcome to the brave new pooled world of back to back to back call center type interactions. And if you don't think this is driven to cut costs, you're delusional.

I'm glad I'm at the latter quarter of my career and have only a few more years of this. I'm finding it stressful keeping track of the constant changes that I am expected to articulate and justify to customers. Security, DNA, EN, SD-WAN, UC, DC, SW, SASE, Service, Competitive, Licensing.... And then it all changes next week. Repeat ad infinitum........ Each of these areas is vast in complexity and any one of them is a career in and of itself. At Cisco we are expected to know all of them and be current.
We are too complex for customers to fathom and the ELT has completely confused all its employees.

BS. Specialists get paid more not less. SEs are already cheap. If they were looking to save costs it’d be sales, CX, all the BDMs, etc.

Focusing on one tech means significantly less pay. EK has already done the cost analysis and he is showing how he can save a significant amount of money to ELT by virtualizing SAs and paying them 25% less by focusing on one thing. The SA cost model is already done. Cisco knows they have to start reducing the cost of pre-sales engineering support. FY23 will be the start of the pooling of all SAs.

Fine with it. Give me 6-9 months + PTO + some medical, and its time to walk. Let the early in career that can't spell OSPF take over. Cisco used to hire the best of the best.
Now as long as you are young and BS a little buzzword bingo you have the job.

This is happening. They need cheaper SAs. C2E is a disaster but EK and SEDs are ramming this thru to drive cost of SAs down.
They want SAs to be one dimensional with C2E so they can pay lower salaries. Did they tell you that they would not get all SA reqs back. Of course they didn’t until it was becoming obvious. Do you think they are going to tell you that SAs are going pooled with C2E. Of course they won’t. If you are not asking questions to your leadership then you need to. You should put the questions in email and have them respond in writing.

It is planned for in FY23. If you don’t believe then ask your SED. See if you get a straight answer. You won’t cause get a straight answer of “No, the SAs are not going to a pool model.”

SEMs will be notified in 2H and to give stack ranking as not all SAs will need to be kept in the pooled model for Click 2 Expert.

These troll posts will never give dates because they know they’ll be shown to be fake when the date comes and goes.

SEs are already incredibly cheap for the company given the low pay and understaffing. But other companies do rely on partners more than we do or can do having smaller numbers internally.

They need to pool SAs to bring cost of pre-sales engineering down and make sure they are still paying EK and his SEDs good money to do away with your job. The pooling of SAs is going to be brutal. No career path, no development. You will not be marketable. And you will not make money. You will be a glorified discussion and demo on demand.

The more they limit you in your abilities the less they can pay for people that come in after you leave or are let go. Yes, they will let SAs go just so they can hire at a lower cost.

Why not just cut loose the underperforming TSAs?

All, Click 2 Expert / Agile TSA disaster is the path forward. Every SA and every TSA will be subjected to this. The cost of sales engineering has to come down. This is from EK and the SEDs. Ask yourself why roles are not being backfilled.
