Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

This is unsustainable

Honeywell is sucking all the energy out of me. I get home and all I want to do is go to sleep. I don't remember the last time I felt like doing anything fun or anything at all. I'm tired and lethargic all the time. I'm starting to think that no job would be better than this. I can't even imagine how people with families are handling this.

I regret joining and I am hoping to leave sooner than later. I can’t believe I didn’t trust what I read here. Some of this is noise but most is signal. Those who read this and are considering it — don’t.

Get the damn vaccine.

I was among the first RIF'd when HR discovered they could use the, "COVID excuse." After a few days I realized it was the best thing that could have happened, and resulted in the best paid vacation I'd had in decades. The last 15 years with Moneyhell was demeaning, degrading, demoralizing, and that was as a Band 4 with 20 years under my belt. For me to work these days is a choice, not a mandate, and when it ceases to be "fun," I'll retire.

Don't let them bully you. They need YOU much more than you need them.

You are not alone. Some of us are stuck till death due us part. Just because it feels god aweful should not control you. Watch and learn and observe and enjoy the self destruction of a 100 year old company that tries to reimagine itself through the 16th New MOS, Accelerator. I have had a richful life, great pay for the valley, sh---y benefits. Grass isn't always greener but coworkers are friends and those who escape or retire, great for them. You probable find another sh---y company but if you find that perfect place, share. Just remember the work hours are 8 a day and 40 a week, unlimited vacation so use it. End your day and enjoy your evenings. Regardless, you make a difference. Results may be hard to get during RDE bs, but you work with friends and trust me, you being there doing what you do makes a difference for your team. One task at a time. One day at a time.

Back from “unlimited” vacation with dread? That’d be a sign to move on.

I got the COVID RIF. I was suffering too but too old to leave. I thought it was just me

I check back here occasionally to see if things are better, same or worse. Seems worse

I feel a lot better now 5 months later. End of severance is coming up but I feel less stressed than ever. I may even go back to work where I am appreciated I thought I hated work the last ten years. Turns out I hated Honeyhell

I love it here. I find the pressure to deliver stimulating and challenging. You are all weak.

OP, it sounds like your have classic signs of depression. It's also sounds like you know the root cause being your job. Take control of your life and fix the root cause.

The universal sign of you need to GTFO out of that toxic environment. If a job makes you feel like that, it ain't worth it.

Been retired now for some time but my last few years at HON were a nightmare. I needed an antidepressant. Had obsessive thoughts about HON and great difficulty falling asleep. Got thrown in the elbow at the very bottom of the worst recession in my lifetime.

Absolutely agree with OP. Feel beaten up, worn out and stressed 24/7. Have dreams about work. Affecting home life and health. Now have a recurring cough that won’t go away. Don’t know what the end game is but hopefully it’s not me checking out early.
