Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO- see lots of comments today

RTO is only for attrition- face it. Some of us got moved to offices no where near where we live (and no one was asked), you have to go in 3 days a week so you can basically just IM and Skype with your "team"- and how are we supposed to find any team- they dont sit in the same place every day- we have to be 6 ft apart, so no conference rooms- I dont mind going back in to even do the same work that I do better at home, but lots of us were moved to places that will be a he-l of a commute- I was moved 20 miles away from my prior location and told that location was "full"- now new compensation (hold your breath if it benefits anyone besides WF). This is ONLY TO DRIVE FOLKS AWAY- then we mellow out as we cant actually recruit anyone with this. Just try to bide your time. Its very very sad the horrible way WF is treating current employees now. No feedback, no insight- just bo-m- sorry.

@1vqq
Your answer is in salary continuation in the benefits book- if your change in work location is more than 40 miles one way you would qualify if forced. You would have the choice to move or take severance when requested

Serious Questions:

What happens if they tell you to move your family 800 miles away, and you refuse? Do they outright fire you? Or do you get a severance?

Same question, but for RTO: What happens if they tell you that you now have to drive a 3 hour commute across Los Angeles to work at some office, and you refuse. Do they outright fire you? Or do you get a severance?

Seems like Chainsaw Chuck-it is far too motivated to let anything stop him from plowing forward with this nonsensical plan.

Think about it: his grand plan failed at BNY Mellon so if it fails here, it'll sour his track record big time. This time he's determined to succeed with sinking the ship - HE WILL NOT BE MADE A MOCKERY OF!

In the meantime: Chuck E Cheese has meticulously been practicing "Stairway to Heaven" for his big premiere at Guitar Center (Date TBA once he's good enough)

“Charlie really sees the benefits of in person collaboration”

Well, Charlie can eat a bag of di-ks.

I doubt Charlie cares that much. This is all SP's doing and guess what, it's happening everywhere across the world. Calling someone a dictator just because that make a decision that they're paid to make doesn't make much sense. People have just got used to working from home and don't want to go back - call it what it is and either go back or not. The 81% of workers who are already back (or never left) don't much care.

So it’s all Charlie right, when 250k people underneath him have no way or courage to stand up against him. Isn’t that a definition of a dictator.

I'm definitely opposed to RTO. That said, it's ridiculous to suggest that there aren't people who are more productive in-person, because these people do exist. There's also people that no matter how many nifty tech gizmos you give them, they won't collaborate as much from home as they will in person. It's just a fact. It doesn't mean that RTO is necessarily 'the best option', but a certain percentage of our work force will perform better in person and refusing to acknowledge that can tend to invalidate the rest of what you say.

I do believe that the benefits of WFH outweigh the gains from RTO, but I understand that RTO has benefits as well that "but, but, I'm WAY more productive at home!!!!" guy self-destructively likes to pretend don't exist.

Some have mentioned the messaging from the company that they want us to carry their water and sing the praises of the RTO plan. That, I won't be doing. If they want to "not apologize" for their position, cool, but they own it completely. It's not my idea, I don't think it's the right time, and if they don't like my candor on the subject and diversity of thought, I guess they don't believe in those concept after all.

In another thread recently, someone mentioned that managers are not able to express any varying opinions around RTO policies.

I’ve been in a couple of town hall meetings with various levels of middle management and knowing this explains a lot about how management has responded. Every time the topic of RTO and abolishing WFH comes up, management frantically says something about “Charlie really sees the benefits of in person collaboration” and then they will change the subject as quickly as possible without giving a straight answer. I can sense that many of them are frustrated with this as well.

“Despite being promised a grandfathered wfh status, they have received seemingly random flex seating assignments“

All of us non tech ppl have been saying it will happen and none of you believed us. I’m not surprised you’re not grandfathered in, as this is what they did to my PM team years ago. They ripped up our 100% remote telecommute contracts and even stripped us of bonuses-completely. Some bonuses were 8-10k a year. They want us all to suffer & quit. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get rid of or slash bonuses enterprise wide. This isn’t over.

People forced to endure a long, grueling commute to an open office where half their mental energy goes into blocking out distractions are not going to be innovating jack.

They will be looking for new jobs though, so maybe that’s the plan.

But but but we’re better together, we innovate. We can “pop our heads into meetings “. Innovation happens!!! We get in the moment feedback. Career opportunities and growth. Did I mention we innovative dang it!
We run into each other going into or out of the can. And you guessed it, sometimes while we’re in the stalls squeezing one out we also, innovate.
Exciting times

I talked with colleagues today. Despite being promised a grandfathered wfh status, they have received seemingly random flex seating assignments, one in another state they couldnt possibly get to without chatlies jet, another has to now transit the entire LA area, another has to report to an office in an area that is still a shooting hot bed months after blm.

This is the reason lieber was fired.

He tried to stand up for you.

This is madness

@ufp+1d3iOhrE As long as the manager voices his/her opinion against the Wells Fargo position if and when and where, and appropriately expressed, there is only so much the manager can do. Charlie and company are doing their thing come h-ll or high water.

Truer words could not be spoken. They care not one bit how any of this impacts a single soul let alone the perception of it all. It's all to frustrate people so they quit!

Do you realize in two of three roles I worked in, I got a phone call saying "we're not going to pay CPG for office space anymore, it's too expensive" so I was forced remote. It worked fine! In fact, I worked at home a lot anyway because that commute time I could spend working and supporting my people. However, in new role I got offered, they wanted me to move to a hub city (at my expense) to work in an office where not one single person who reported to my manager even worked there, let alone my manager. So you a-holes want me to move 800 miles to a hub to be in an office where not one of my team members will be or my boss, no thank you! It makes ZERO sense, but what of their decisions does make sense?! Very few.

Oh, and of the four hub locations I was given to pick from, I found out my new boss was located in a non-hub and was not moving and got granted permission to live where she was from while asking everyone she hired to uproot to move to one of 4 cities she was not even in! Are you f-ing serious!?? Who wants to work from hypocrites like that!?? Not most!

I ended up quitting. The place is NUTS! I just come here to remind myself of the BS I left and that my current job frustrations are small potatoes.

Yes, this is a false attempt to “drive innovation and collaboration” among employees and broaden our opportunities to meet someone new who will further our career. Anyone who believes that pile of bu-----t Chuckie has dished out deserves to be let go! And the Managers who spew it out on his behalf are no better! They are probably more pathetic because they just drink the koolaid.
