Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Enough with the RTO complaints!

How the he-l did all of you go to work before WFH? I know you all did. Well, that's how you're going to continue. If you were able to do it for years and in some cases for decades then you can certainly continue to do it now. It's not the end of the freaking world!

We didn’t used to be able to heat up our god in 30 seconds in a microwave oven either. Now we do.

Look you’re afraid of change. I dig that… but get out of our way.

Man one's home life must really suuuck if you're so afraid of others being able to stay home leaving you in the office with no one for you to flutter around and talk to, that you spend time trolling a layoff site over and over.

@ghq+1d4W35V7 has it explained 100% correctly. I'm the only one on my team within 100+ miles, so I have to go in to sit alone, listen to a person across from me hum out of tune, suffer through the person behind me eat their microwaved leftover boiled fish at their desk, deal with masks, and worry about exposure to the virus. I drive 65 minutes each way for this wonderful environment. I've always been an exceeds performer. The only supposed reason my MyWork was revoked is because "we're an in-office company" is the new Mantra. I'm convinced as others have mentioned before that is it a mechanism to make my experience miserable enough that I'll quit. There is no other logical reason. They suggested I donate my home office furniture (that they provisioned) to charity and discard my printer. I now have 65 minute commute each way, additional prep time in the mornings, increased chance of exposure to illness, all to put on my Beats to drown out others and work alone. There's no one that stupid in Charlotte who thinks this is an improvement and will mean better performance or that I will work anywhere near the hours I did in WFH. It's a push to the door without severance risk.

The people that are whining about Covid and the office are going to the beach, running around in clubs and bars and then cry about returning to the office. It's amazing what people will post on social media........fools.

it seems you are a lonely person that find happiness being in the office.. good for you.. as you don't have to worry to become infected with covid ( if you die nobody will care ) or infect a family member or friend ( because probably you have none ).. for normal mortals like us.. the concern is RTO during pandemic.

To answer the post regarding why they took me off my work is because the new management believes in “being in the office”. Although my entire teammates are spread out all over the country so I don’t even see anyone I work with in the office. I’m around loud strangers. I bought a new set of noise cancelling earbuds to drown out the noise with people 3 feet away from me. I worked WAY more at home. No commute, ate a sandwich at my desk etc. I just don’t get why they can’t get with the times. It’s 2021 not 1981!

@fbu+1d4W35V7 thanks to BOA employees going to Wells, their culture is following BOAs by forcing everyone back into the office even when remote hired. Good luck hopping over the fence. Maybe check out WF layoff page.... grass isn't greener

@mda+1d4W35V7 why did they ask you to come off mywork?
just trying to see what the logic is...

To the original poster...the world changes, priorities change.
People value their time vs a pointless demand when work gets done the same or better from home.

"Wells is looking better at this point." Wow....that is the most impactful statement in this post. To think that we've sunk so low as a company that folks would prefer Wells...that's just an overwhelming statement.

OP the answer to your question is simple - civilization evolves. Just because something has been a certain way for decades doesn't mean it will continue to be that way. I've listed a few things below that were done for decades but have now evolved:

1) Woman can vote
2) Slavery abolished
3) Self driving cars

Why would employees want to return to a cubicle if technology allows that job function to performed from the comfort of their home? Personally I prefer a work/life balance, unlike the pre pandemic days where it was work balance heavy.

@OP+1d4W35V7

The demand for flexibility in where and how people work has been building for decades. Before the crisis, surveys repeatedly showed 80% of employees want to work from home at least some of the time. Over a third would take a pay cut in exchange for the option.

Original poster. You need to get your facts straight!! I was on my work (from home) for 13 years. And now asking me to rto. Pointless. So before you b**itch you need to get your facts right.

To the first poster, yeah the confidentiality if the tool is a joke. If you've been called in, you're vaxxed, which means the tool isn't confidential at all.

To the original poster: honestly I kind of agree. I'm good to go back. Don't really care if I work from home or the office. But I won't be getting this vaccine (basic reasoning: the vax wasn't tested properly; we should be "learning" that there is a need for boosters or learning much else about it like side effects -- these should be known at release of the vaccine to the public).

Why are only vaccinated having to return? When I filled out my vaccination status I was told it would remain confidential. It hasn’t as so many managers have been given a list of return to work dates. Why is my life being put at risk when I can just work from home.

It’s not safe to return. Mask mandates not being followed. Sitting within three feet of others and told to take mask off at desk?

Complaining and moral will continue to sink. Everyone is trying to get out of BOFA. Wells is looking better at this point.
