Those who have returned to offices

What has been your experience? Is there increased collaboration? Are there Covid restrictions in place? Are you happy to be back?

Very noisy and disruptive. I was never remote and the great return has interrupted my performance. Was this the point?

I was forced to return to office to collaborate..... via Microsoft teams with people in different time zones. Very productive, much wow.

RTO has been mostly smooth. Sure there’s more sanitizer, temp checks, and rapid Covid tests (it’s really not that bad). The collaboration effect is real and beneficial. Many people are coming back to new equipment (large monitors, wireless keyboards/mice) and free lunch provided at least once a week.

It amuses me that someone thinks HR gives a sh-t how we feel about this.

LOL I can see how you might think the OP is an HR person, but I'm not. I'm someone who feels deeply betrayed and disappointed in my company. Actual HR is trying to spin RTO as some sort of joyous celebratory event, and I just wanted to know if that resembles truth in any way. And if I was HR, so what? It's an anonymous forum. Tell me how you really feel.

The OP sounds like and HR person doing an informal survey. Don’t fall for it.

I don’t know how collaboration would increase when your on back to back calls with people in other offices. When we were in the office, we didn’t go off to conference rooms because of the work and lack of available rooms to use

Desks are very close, no partitions and the noise level is high; that’s without everyone in the office. The conference room I saw, no one had masks and it looked like a tiny classroom, all forward facing. Not sure what the other office across the street will look like

Hard to get much done when you're sucking air through a hot face-diaper all day long. I had someone ask me if I took up smoking again because I step outside once an hour for a 5-minute fresh-air break.

I'm already looking for remote-only positions and I'm out of here the moment I get one.

Cubes are still tightly packed, the noise is obnoxious and there is very little legitimate collaboration. People are following the mask policy for the most part.
