Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Unlimited supply

Managers know...when they post a new opening...they get hundreds of bankers apply. The truth is at Fiserv you have a job that can be easily backfilled. Stop complaining and get back to work.

What a load of bu-----t. As someone who has tried to hire qualified replacements, they are not lining up. You OFD as-----s are such a joke. We laugh at you constantly. So co--y but so completely inept.

'Fiserv is now one of the largest IBM mainframe shops in the world.'

Probably not even close. But if you can link sources I can be convinced.

Frank is probably laughing all the way to the bank as he destroys this once-great company and threatens his underlings to bathe RTO in a positive light. FrankServ will disintegrate and implode in the coming years.

To the poster about the IBM Mainframe you are right they are screwed. I wonder how the migration for Oracle on AIX to ExaCC or whatever it is called is going? IBM z, IBMi, AIX, HPUX, Unisys (aka pure sh!t, that Premier and Cleartouch run on) are all going to have issues. Don't even bring up all the database flavors there are. Oh and just wait for them to have to get off of 2008 32-bit. I bet Frank didn't know how much tech debt exists in OFS. On and there is a lot in OFD as well. If I was a kid in my 20's I would learn IBM z now, then in a few years they will be pulling in $250k plus per year.

  1. S. Salt is pure sh!t as well. Whoever thinks that cr-p is great is out of touch with reality.

The fact that jobs sit on the board for months without being filled tells me your full of it.

The original post mentions "Bankers". The last I checked, Fiserv was a technology company and not so much a "Bank with Bankers". I work on the IBM mainframe stack, which is the backend for VisionPlus, the E-Payments BillPay platform, PEP+ Insourcing, and several others. Fiserv is now one of the largest IBM mainframe shops in the world. Good mainframe talent isn't easy to find and they are leaving Fiserv in droves. Fiserv uses an outside vendor to try to train-up new mainframer's but it takes years to become proficient in the platform. Fiserv is well on it's way to being in serious trouble for support on the mainframe platform since the average age of the folks that support the platform is over 62 and probably 30-40% of the staff will be retiring in the next year of so. (Or just quit because they hate Fiserv). Good luck Fiserv.... LOL. I won't be the one left holding the bag.

Your statement is BS. Clearly, you’re not familiar with the teams and their knowledge that will be impacted as well as the clients. I guess that’s the antiquated OFD way of thinking

Advertise the salary you offer and that problem will stop.

Good managers should ALSO know how expensive it is to onboard and train new people on new applications. Fiserv applications are complicated - especially the card processing platforms. The global application VisionPLUS is an awesome application but it takes YEARS to become an expert on that massive product. I believe the domestic card application is the similar in complexity. So the expense of bringing a new person in against temporarily cutting expenses by eliminating employees should always be weighed. But again, I said good managers. It is clear to see by the terrible decisions of the CEO that there aren't many good managers left.

I don't know what your role is but mine requires a minimum 1 year of training and mentorship. Sure, try and hire someone off the street with no experience with Fiserv products and see how happy the clients are.
