Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

"Do the right thing, raise your hand"

Every time I go to Develop You and see that there is a mass of training assignments dumped into my training inbox I can't help but think I am paying for past sins of (pick a name?)

The "problem" isn't the problem. The person pointing out the problem is the "problem".

I recently raised my hand. Was stifled by upper management. Honest control violation. They didn’t care. It was dismissed without comment. I won’t do that again. They simply aren’t serious about this.

The CSI class is the worst. I still question some of the "correct" answers.

Bunch of whining about "training". Yeah, it's a PITA. It's also pretty easy to just click/test through if you've done it more than once. Anybody who has done the annual certs at least once should have no problem knocking them out in a day or two while still getting actual work done.

You can pretty much click through and just figure out the answers with basic reasoning.

I can't comment on the extra 10 hours per week. Sometimes I have to work 6, even 7 days a week. It's offset by weeks where I work 16. I'd hate to be working 50 every week unless I was being compensated a ludicrous amount.

Actually, no. I value my free time too much.

Let's not forget the ones that say 30 minutes. I never finish in 30 minutes. Ans I know I am not alone.

If you are salary, then unnecessary training is displacing actual work. For many it means hour 50 to 60 getting training done. Especially if your group accelerates due dates.

We're all busy but a couple of hours over a three month period? C'mon man.

Our department is perilously short-staffed after layoffs this summer. Managers, of course, are unable to help. There will be some gigantic error before the end of the year as a result of too few people and outdated systems.

Not everyone has a cush job, where they can spread 2 to 6 hours of work over an 8 hour day. We have always had to do the Continuing Ed on our own time. Not sure why others seem to have so much time on their hands, but that is one more example of the business not being managed properly at WFC.

Every bank requires the compliance courses. Not just WF.

Wells Fargo loves to hire people who aren’t experienced enough to ask the right questions. Or are meek/scared/needy enough to just do as they are told. The execs want you blindly “doing as they say” rather than paying attention to what the execs are doing.

The employees/managers who support continuing education (which does not in any way apply to the job you’re doing) are brainwashed Yes-Men who aren’t smart enough to ask for education/training that actually helps the bank to stay compliant. It’s the kind of Smoke and Mirrors that is taking the bank down.

Wells Fargo loves to give the appearance of compliance rather than actually being compliant.

For those who haven’t been around very long, John Stumpf and Carrie Tolstedt aggressively pushed the Continuing Ed idea too. It keeps the worker bees busy and distracted running in little circles while the Execs focus on how to bury the fraud.

You are all fools if you think raising your hand is a good thing.

The only experience that has been very well documented in the press is the retaliation.

Watch the Dirty Money WF episode on Netflix and judge for yourself.

and if you are being forced to do it on your own time call the ethics line or raise your hand. go to any company on the world and you will have training you have to rake, in the us you have state and federal training and the fact we are a highly regulated bank means we get to take a lot more.

Troll here - try organizing yourself a little better then. Nobody likes doing them but guess what, it's not optional and if your manager won't give you time to do them, they're the ones who get in trouble so let them figure it out.

Does anyone know if “our partners in India” have to take the classes?

When the trolls say “You are getting paid to take them”: are most people getting paid OT to take the classes? We are not. Most of our department ends up taking these classes on their own personal time because we are swamped with our work during our 8 hour work day. We are salary, not hourly, therefore we have to take the classes after-hours or on the weekends.

One of my coworkers asked if he/she could take a day to not work and just get caught up on their classes. He was told no.

Everyone is right. You ARE being forced to do the training based on the failings of the company as a whole, but... yes you get paid for it and I usually do the test out if available, because the questions are easy if you are a reasonable and decent person. heh, the fallback is usually, 'don't do it' or 'report it'.

I would take it all much more seriously if they assigned classes specific to each employee’s or even each department’s job.

If I’m being generous - I would estimate only 5-10% of the info the classes cover have anything to do with my job responsibilities. 90-95% does not and never will apply.
Additionally, there is so much that should be covered that is never touched on.
