Do you get to take your pension if you’re fired for performance?

@sgc+1d6eRysM Spousal benefits. No next of kin. The company collects off your demise. You need to attend a local membership meeting.

If you take the lump sum when you retire or terminated it belongs to you.
Very strict rules under the pension protection act.
100% of the balance figured by the corporate bond rate from December of the current year belongs to you!
If you die, your designated beneficiary only gets 50% of the lump.

if you are vested in your pension you get it all no matter what only way they can take it away from you is if they can prove they can't pay but then the government insurance takes over and you get a percentage of what you are do.

Ok what happens to your pension if you die before you retire, is it gone or will it go to your spouse or next of kin?

Depending on contract and years of service, being fired may leave you with the ability to draw a monthly check at age 65 and not before. It’s yours, but with all the different benefit rules your access to it may be limited.

If you're vested, the pension belongs to you. They can't "keep" it.

Yes, you have earned it. You could possibly lose other retirement benefits if you are dismissed for misconduct, though.
