What are you thinking? All those mainframe refreshes are coming to a slowdown this quarter and we’ll feel it.

@4miq+1d7cgO15, are you really an IBMer...? You do realize, any IBMers can subscribe to any blogs in w3 pages? Get on with the modern IBM way.

With Rob "10 seconds" Thomas at the helm for Sales , there is only one way for earnings to go and that's DOWN.
You gotta love his Mon AM pep emails. Chock full of insight and inspiration.

There is an extra Billion already set aside for 1Q 2022... That is most likely when the rest of the layoffs will happen. In the meantime, IBM is completing the Kyndryl spinoff.

I have also seen a lot of IBMers mentioning on LinkedIn that they retired/left on Sep 30,
that looks like a lot of forced retirements to me.

There are also rumors that a lot of people have been put on PIPs. We all know where this is going.

Surprised not to see that many layoffs this year (so far) we were all talking of 20 / 30 k people being cut, maybe its because people are leaving. October already and very quiet on the RA front.....

Remember Last Q ibm spent almost 2B to buy companies to show a slight growth in revenues. They'll do the same this Q to show how c&c revenue is growing.
It's a joke if they need to spend this much after spending on RH.

Proprietary mainframes are going the way of the dinosaur, headed for a complete implosion. Customers want commodity servers that can be easily maintained and upgraded.

Numbers will be manipulated. IBM is a sinking company.

The mainframe slowdown really is not that important. Everybody whose opinion matters understands the cyclical nature of that business, and factors it into their projections.

What is more significant is what the long term trends for each mainframe cycle are.

Like always. Margin will be improved from layoffs (50% of marketing employees in US in Sept), revenue will increase by an insignificant number, and the execs will get paid.

I predict they'll fudge the numbers, like they always do. And the Analysts will clap like trained seals.
