Why is testing instead of jab not an option?

You can down vote me all you want, but it's more effective if you post a link showing something that contradicts what the CDC posted on their site. The vaccines were originally supposed to prevent most people from catching COVID. That's why Biden's mask mandate in May was "The rule simple. Get a vaccine or wear a mask until you do.".

The narrative shifted as science learned that the vaccines' main effect was to reduce symptoms. Nowwl we have the full 180 of saying that unvaccinated people are putting the vaccinated at risk. If the vaccine is safe and effective, what are they at risk of?

@3dxx stop spreading misinformation. The CDC says that all types of the COVID vaccine are effective at preventing COVID. It doesn't say keeping you out of the hospital or reducing symptoms. It says preventing COVID. I'll put a link at the bottom for you.

If The Science has already been this wrong in less than a year, why would we trust the statements "the vaccines are safe"? They'll just update the page next year and "hur dur muh iPhone" people like you will start saying "they never said the vaccine was safe, just that it was safer than being the less than 1% that die of COVID!"

The vaccine was never touted as preventing anyone from catching COVID. It reduces the chance of serious illness, hospitalization and death by > 95%. It has proven that effectiveness since they started over a 1 1/2 years ago. By far, most who currently get serious illness, hospitalization or sadly die are those who are NOT vaccinated even though as some keep saying both vaccinated and non-vaccinated people still get COVID. We are beyond the point of “what if’s”…this is now “what is”. If you don’t get the shot and get COVID you are much/much more likely to get very sick, hospitalized or die. The original “2shot”/ “1shot” vaccines were created for the original COVID but it has mutated to the Delta variant. In spite of that, so far the effectiveness is still about the same (>95% effective). The reason it’s important that all get the vaccine is so COVID doesn’t continue to mutate which “could” eventually cause a variant that none of the current vaccines would work against. This is why they are pushing all to get vaccinated.

Hey @mfl+1d8pDz6D where were you 1-6? If you would have been there we wouldn't be mandated

Better to get rid of those toxic malcontents than to give them a testing option. Glad I won't have to hear incessant complaints about testing and its cost.

@1dkx, “no job is so important & no service is so urgent that we can not take time to perform our work safely”. If it is so unsafe that T has to force employees to jab or quit then it doesn’t matter if testing is practical or not, it should be done. Since the virus can still be transmitted vaxxed or not, if this truly is about safety then ALL employees should be subject to frequent testing. Also, if it is indeed this unsafe, T should refuse service to ALL unvaxxed customers as well and also require a negative test before any technician rolls the truck out of the office. I don’t expect T to be right, it would be nice if they were consistent though.

Frequent testing isn't really a practical option. Either att would have to do testing or the employee would have to visit a validated testing site very frequently.

Great job AT&T. Vaccinated workers make workplace safer. And we get rid of toxic whiners. Doubly good.

Using govt doublespeak to downsize cheaply. It’s policy, so if you are fired, it’s “for cause,” so they can deny unemployment. Even full time virtual workers are mandated. Makes no sense. The company is toxic. Thank your elected officials for sitting on their hands bc of big pharma and corporations like T lining their pockets. Keep calling ppl anti-vax, racists, whiners, and conspiracy theorists. It’s not ok for mandating a “vaccine” for employment where it does nothing to prevent or eradicate the danger to the workplace. None. It’s absurd. WtFU

I think companies are mandating vaccines because if you are vaccinated and get a breakthrough case you are less likely to require hospitalization. The hospitals are filled with unvaccinated COVID cases. The mandate will help keep people out of the hospitals, giving healthcare workers much needed relief and it also helps keep healthcare costs down if it reduces hospitalizations. This is why some companies are charging @ $200 more in monthly premiums to unvaccinated workers. The mandate helps lower the workforce incidents of COVID hospitalizations and helps stop rising healthcare costs. You know how we all bellyache over our rising healthcare premiums during benefit selection time.

The same logic behind the fact that when employees take the daily assessment, AT&T doesn’t care if you were around someone with full blown Covid or just got back from international travel, as long as you are vaccinated.. even though fully vaccinated can still transmit Covid to others.

If fully vaccinated can get it and spread it, why aren't they losing jobs too?

Simply put , att didn’t want to give us THAT option . Most likely they thought it’s cheaper to FORCE vaccination then to let us test weekly . You know how they like to cut corners …

I keep noticing that someone is making up stuff here. On Sept 9th, Biden said that vaccines was mandated for most federal workers, and said OSHA would make regulations covering 100 workers. Last I heard, OSHA is still in the comment period, and no regulations have yet been issued.

But AT&T mandated vaccinations for management employees in August by Oct 11th. And the OSHA mandate has yet to be issued.
https://fortune.com/2021/10/01/vaccine-mandates-effective-date-osha-biden-covid-impact-update/
Someone is trying to force-fit an agenda here. At this point, this vaccine policy is entirely AT&T's doing. That is why it doesn't comply with what Biden said, because until OSHA issues the “emergency temporary standard” (ETS) that will put the mandate into effect, there is no Biden mandate for private companies.

And watch the lawsuits once OSHA issues the policy. 100 employees, not 88? 100 outdoor workers, but not 50 indoor workers?

AT&T is marching to the beat of its own drum, as are other private companies. The lack of a mandate doesn't prevent a private corporation from setting the terms of employment.

Good question! T claims they are following the biden mandate which says vaccinate or test NOT vaccinate or terminate. Would love to hear an explanation from our leaders
