Despite the company name being a brand and famous anywhere in the world, there is something wrong with it... Why so? What is causing it?

how about:

  • - Increasing loss of software quality
  • - Less diverse product portfolio
  • - Competitor network vendors filling the gap on product offers
  • - Infrastructure Customers are not interested on cloud offers, customers want high quality network solutions not agile sudo-software only solutions

Would be interesting go drill down on what some people considered legacy network equipment.

Legacy equipment still seems to generate a pretty healthy level of demand. Cisco's revenue for FY21 was close to $50B with $15.5B of cash flow and a net income of $10.6B. That's billions, folks, billions. Cisco is doing exactly what's expected: generate profit with a strong positive cash flow. Sure, Cisco isn't going to launch James Bond's next awesome gadget and Cisco isn't going to catch up with cloud vendors. But it could be doing much worse. It could also be doing better, but at the end of the day ELT members are pocketing their bonuses so why fix something that isn't broken. Yet.

One has to ask why the last 5 or so cloud experts Cisco hired quit right away.

Strike 1: Lack of Cloud offerings
Strike 2: Lack of Software offerings
Strike 3: Lack of Security offerings

We sell legacy network equipment in 2021
