Has anyone gotten a RTO waiver or accommodation approved? If so, how?

You do need to sign a medical waiver which allows HR to determine if they are able to make an accommodation at the office they will be looking at your specific location and medical accommodation need. If wfh is the best option they may select that and receive LOB approval after they our assessment .

The unfortunate thing is that the key is reasonable accommodation based on ADA. If they can accommodate in office and that doesn’t work for you they have I think satisfied the requirement

Wow… it took a vax requirement for an SF resident to find religion. Just can’t make this stuff up

Careful folks! I had a medical all approved and ready to go (approval email and everything) but then was advised would be "reviewed" by HR management... me thinks too many were getting approved. FML

Yes, medical, approved but still has not showed up on the My Workplace page.

What a spoiled and privileged society we live in. Before there was the internet and remote work, everyone went in to someplace to work.

I really can't stand the people I work with - especially the scammers thinking they are so "good" that they should get an exception handed to them - just because they are so good - in their own mind.

Go. Really - go. No one will miss you and good luck finding a job at another place since so many require vaccination now. Most wont even give a second interview unless you are vaccinated. Have fun with that, I am sure we will be fine without you.

Religious exemption my a**. Better not use most OTC painkillers, those are made and developed with the same cells. Same with analgesics, anti-inflammatory dr-gs, neuro meds, heart pills, dilation medicines, thyroid medicines, or certain diabetes treatments.

People on my team that talked tough a couple months ago are already folding and making plans to come into the office 😂😂😂

They sure changed fast from “no way will i go into the office, i was hired as remote” to “i might go into the office next week for this early invitation to get back into commuting again”

"Require and they will see 10-20% of workforce leave I'm afraid."

My money's on all these talkers folding like a cheap suit when it comes to that.

Anyone received a religious exemption for accommodation for not getting an experimental vaccine made with Human Fetus'. Answer to all the anti-vax comments these are real and should never be a directive or mandate. If you dont want your Bill of Rights thats fine by me, but many of us do. Require and they will see 10-20% of workforce leave I'm afraid.

I don't know anyone who has been WFH pre-COVID that got a non-medical approval to remain WFH after having been assigned a workplace.

You don't need a medical exception. Managers are submitting and getting them approved for themselves and employees. We live near hub locations and support teams all over WF. Talk to your manager

@xwb, migraines? Really? Is that why the dude that doesn't want to cross the border to Portland was complaining of a migraine the other day? LOL!

Depression? Really? I think everyone would qualify for an exception. LOL!

If you truly have a medical reason then you should be doubly upset with the anti-vaxxers, who will try to cheat the system every which way they can, instead of just being honest and saying the don't want the vax.

So it will be tough to get an exemption, thanks to the flat-earthers being dishonest little cowards.

I'm also think these accomodation requests need to be re approved every so often. not sure if 6mo or yearly but definitely not a one and done.

Yes, I got a letter from my doctor documenting my accommodation needs and attached it to the request. HR needed to verify with the doctor that he indeed wrote the note and that it was an ongoing condition and then HR had to go to my LOB for approval. It was granted. If you need work from home, you need all the specifics documented in the letter on the doctor office letterhead. I scheduled a visit specific to the documentation with my doctor. Hope this helps.

wow all these replies are sooo helpful.

Anyway, if you have migraines, ptsd, add, anxiety, depression, recently went through chemo, have some other disability that could require an accommodation, you can get a letter from your doctor asking they accommodate you. It could be sitting in an office, sitting by a window for natural light, it could be WFH so you dont get sick. I don’t know the answer but several people are getting them and having the properties group tie themselves in knots trying to accommodate everyone. HR has to review/document it. Good luck.

There's actually a list of the ingredients in the vaccine listed on the FDA website.

You need to have your doctor actually verify that you are indeed allergic to one or many of those ingredients. Good luck, cuz I doubt any doctor will work that hard for you.

I'm allergic to everything and I know my doctor will roll his eyes if I ask him.. Good luck.

And the Medical accommodations are for you only. Not a relative or a family member.

Medical.

You need a letter from your Doctor saying you're at high risk for COVID 19 complications. Vaccinated people with chronic conditions have already been hospitalized since August with the Delta variant.

My request was approved by management but has been held up in HR for a few weeks now so I'm not sure where it stands. I've heard of others in the same boat.

No such thing. Your boss, or even boss several levels up may claim they can give an exception, but the location strategy and RTO are in full swing.
