Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

'Elephant in the room'

Cisco has a bunch of problems, employees are unhappy with a bunch of things, but management still pretends that everything is fine. Why???
I have a feeling that they all support the illusion that everything is ok just because they are afraid of losing their jobs. The irony is that they will lose it sooner if they don’t finally start solving the problems they are just pushing under the rug. Someone said it perfectly, a lot of effort goes into the denial and very little into solving the problems.

Left (well, LR'd from) Cisco nearly a decade ago, and it's different flavors of the same stories over and over. Wow. Haven't looked back.

Probably managers/directors/executives have read a lot of books about propaganda rather than working.
The problem is that they think to be efficient like 50s USSR but eventually they ended up to be as much ridiculous as Tariq Aziz

Pretty familiar stories and opinions about Cisco culture and its organization, over and over again, day after day. Not just US, but APJ, EMEA already know how bad it is.

But the company is still boasting saying, "it's the place to work," "the most admired company..." Dream on. Those days were over 20 years ago.

Most people there have no skill nor have any professional experience, and yet, they can still be there and will be there with no motivation, no hard-working for years and years to come.

Simply put, it's a public school. An elementary school.

After the original innovators built the Internet and won the communications battle with the legacy TDM/SNA/etc. vendors, Cisco became a political organization with the incompetent yes men/women brown-nosing their way to the top.

Cisco is filled with layers of Managers & Directors without marketable skills. Hiding or "managing up" everyday is not easy to sell on a job interview. Without skills... it's easier to live in denial for the paycheck.
