Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I'm throwing in the towel as well

I see by the other posts that I'm not alone. I think the majority of employees have been unhappy here for a while and it's only a matter of time before something pushes them over the edge. For me, that something was losing a great manager for somebody who is vindictive and verbally abusive. I'm too old to put up with that cr-p. I do feel for my coworkers who can't afford to leave, but I can and I'm officially out.

Yes, the peakon message was from my manager. This isn’t the first time they have said this to someone in this group. I think people need to start posting these responses on my source so everyone out there can see BNYM doesn’t care about it’s employees. We are simply a number on the payroll. Doesn’t matter how much time you put, how many projects you complete, how many weekends you work, they do not care. They only try saving some people from leaving when it someone that meets a diversity quota.

Yes, I knew it was time to move on when I received a peakon response with "If you're unhappy seek employment somewhere else, the door is open and swings both ways"

It’s natural to bounce advice off of and ask for information from coworkers who also deal with the constant pressure and toxicity of the environment. You really cannot understand it unless you’ve lived through decades of annual benefit cuts and takeaways, salary freezes, constant threat of layoff, the ever increasing workloads with less and less people and ever more unpaid weekend overtime. The Bank has a really uniquely abusive environment.

@2aap+1dEhlQte And what does that tell you?

It's interesting that on a message board apparently for discussions of being layed-off from an employer, there seem to be more people at this time who have either quit BNYM, want to quit BNYM, or wish BNYM would fire or lay them off.

Not a judgment, just an obsevation.

About to throw in the towel myself. Don’t see any future in this company with its directionless leadership and caretaker CEO. We’re more than likely going to be acquired again and the last time that happened we were seriously shafted.

@1foe, seeing how we keep on bringing in 4 billion dollars a year it's going to take a while...
