I was in Eastern European military. There more layer of bureaucracy in Cisco than in army. Much more. It seem crazy to me that technical company so bad to the very same people who are technology focused and sell the stuff, the SEs. What kind crazy is that? Like being an MD and you third-party citizen in the hospital and instead of making people better everyone talk BS and try to d-mb you down! Same thing!

Yes, many are leaving to the competition cause they don’t want to be pooled and can make much more money at the competition. Some are jumping to the architectures cause they really like Cisco but their current management and leadership is downright awful. In HGO, the OD and SSEM are completely arrogant and will not listen to the field feedback. There are many AMs and SEs looking to leave but stay at Cisco.

Focusing on fewer technologies sounds good to me.

Is this the reason so many are jumping ship to an architectural role or going to the competition.

SEs will stay officially as generalist but generalist is getting redefined so won’t be the same as a generalist in the past. The whole goal is to pool the significant majority of SEs so they know a couple of things well but are not architects. That way they can pay SEs less.

Again you don’t say if they will be generalists still.

They will be initially pooled at the region level starting in FY23. As attrition accelerates, there will be no other choice but to pool at the Operation level in the second phase which starts to achieve EK’s ultimate plan.

You still aren’t saying if SEs will be pooled as generalists or specialists. Pooled at the region, op, area, what?

SEs are being pooled. It is a done deal. The cost of SEs have to come down. With Cisco getting losing market share in all business, they need to cut costs of doing business. You will notice that AM and SE backfill reqs are not happening every time an AM and SA leaves the business. The ratio is 1:2 meaning for they will only backfill every 2 losses. SEs are going pooled in FY23 which has already been decided to help with the attrition and LR coming in August 2022.

No one is freaking out except for AMs that can’t do their job and make the SE do everything.

They don’t give dates because people are freaking out, and they are trying to stop the freak out

I asked my SED and he did not answer directly but danced around the questions I had. Something very odd when leadership can’t give straight answers.

FY23 is when it starts. The pilot for this is currently on-going. Check out EK’s Business Insider article. He states this. It is vague as he is trying to hide it from the field. Central SED is lying just like EK.

I asked central SED and he said this is BS.

They may be waiting for Brandon Jab fighters to leave, and the next LR, to restructure.

Notice how no one ever gives a date for this? Because it’s fake. They will now in reponse to this of course, but it will be made up.

When is this happening?

Do SEMs already know this? So Account SEs will get a speciality and be mini/front-line TSAs not generalists? Wouldn’t hiring more SEs help increase revenue/market share and then around the decline?

Ask you SED or better yet ask EK if the cost of SEs have to come down. Watch them squirm and not give a direct answer. They are focused on bringing down the cost of SEs. I agree SEs are paid below the industry but the reality is Cisco is losing market share and that is not going to stop anytime soon so SE leadership needs to bring the cost of SEs down. That is why pooling is happening. Please go ahead and ask your SED, SSEM, SEM, or EK. You will NOT get a direct answer.

“SE pooling” and “RTPClosing” are the tabloid side of things on this site. Both are BS but occasional postings keep us entertained. Keep it up.

It’s crazy that “the cost of SE’s most come down” concept exists. Cisco is underpaying pre-sales technical resources by ~30-40% already (when compared to their competition). 2 years from now it will be a bunch of 20-something’s who do not know what the OSI model is. Some of this already exists today.

We are moving to the Salesforce account team model. Pooling of all resources is the end game. Remember we are a software company, just like SFDC.

You are not in the meetings I am in. The cost of SEs have to go down. The only way is via pooling them.

I talk to Cisco field SA’s everyday. None are aware or feel this is going to happen. Who’s fooling who on this topic? 🤔

SEs and TSAs are being pooled. That decision has already been made by EK. There is a big focus on getting SAGE updated for every SE and TSA so they can get the pooling assignments correct. It is a done deal. There is no going back. That is why you are seeing the high level of attrition.
