Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Healthcare costs for former employees at T are outrageous!

Received a mailer (SPD) from t today regarding healthcare choices and associated costs for former employees of T. Don't know how former employees with family plan can afford it. Keep in mind healthcare costs at T used to be minimal, in many cases no charge. Glad I'm on Medicare with Humana part B. It seems underhanded to call T' healthcare insurance anything other than catestrouphic insurance. What a joke, Santone has accomplished her goal of eliminating all benefits at T that used to be valued.

Yes, it's jut like the one time opportunity to buy additional life insurance after Stankey and Santone stole our promised benefit. The costs for supplemental life insurance were rediculus. They had no right to steal this benefit from retirees, karma is a bi--h, they will get theirs.

Available healthcare and affordable healthcare are very different things. Company can claim credit for offering healthcare, it is BS as most people wouldn't be able to afford the premiums. I wouldn't waste my time & energy reading the SPD, just more junk mail.

yeah I did not get into the company in time to get health care costs covered until medicare but from what I am hearing I am not missing much because they just keep raising them.

the 75 rule didn't mean a whole lot in my pension either maybe a couple hundred a month if their modeling software was accurate.

glad I left anyway and got the lump sump pension payout. the money is in my control and not anybody else control like a cesspool company like att.

don't understand why people punish themselves everyday coming into the cesspool. I used to be one of them and it was for nothing. wish I left a long time ago to work for a better company. thankfully I left and found a great company and I hope anybody thinking of working for the cesspool comes to this site and see the real att. one of the prerequisites before finding a new company is that they are not on this site and my new company isn't and is growing and doing a whole lot better than att. you know why because we senior management that doesn't want to rule the world and server their customers and become great at it. in other words become experts and deliver excellent service and your stock price will soar and you will have customers beating down your door.

I see some of the snarky comments left here if you are gone why should they AT&T give you anything? Unfortunately parents aren't teaching integrity to children. The company used the promise of retirement benefits to justify lower salaries and people not moving to more lucrative offers in the past.

If surprised by thus change, were you asleep the last ten years, especially the last 5? There have been nonstop layoffs and forced cuts that have impacted many before you throughout the last decade. Was no plan made when things started to go south? Why wasn't a backup plan made earlier?

For those of us still around, know that future cuts and benefit reductions are coming. Be proactive!

Cuz when you are led to believe you will get retirement Healthcare for the 30 plus years you worked there, not fun when they take it away. That's not entitlement, its swaparoo. And T just keeps taking more and more.

The company used the promise of retirement benefits to justify lower salaries and people not moving to more lucrative offers in the past. These benefits were part of our overall compensation. Now that the employees are ready to claim them the company is bailing on their total compensation package BS. While I'm not part of the past better benefit package generation I would never begrudge people what they were promised.

Honestly, the family healthcare plans at ATT suck anyways. We currently use my wife’s plan from the company she works for. It is literally 1/2 the cost of ATTs plan and 1/3rd the deductibles. And get this, no penalties for me being on her plan even though my employer offers coverage. Btw the company she works for is much much smaller.

I retired one month ago, 60 yrs old, manager, with BCBS Silver self plus 1. Cost went from active employee @ 300/month to retiree @ 510/month. Its rising to $555 for 2022. Yes, rates go up retiree vs active but I knew that. If you retire 1/1/2022 or later and are not Medicare eligible you lose the company subsidy and pay 100% of monthly cost. So for example using the same plan I referenced above (BCBS silver self plus 1) I would be paying the entire cost of $1600/month. This is all explained in the info pkg the company sent when they announced the changes for 2022.

If you don't work there anymore, why should they provide anything for you?

I received the same SPD. Family plans for $2500.00 per month, Santone deserves a raise and bonus!
