Comparing UK to US is stupid. Your healthcare and retirement system is totally different. Same for tax system. Too many differences to compare.

3guq+1dH0kc34 In the UK we've never got any of that already, even when times were good. Might want to reflect on how privaledged some parts of the global employee population are.

On top of that - Belgian employees have 45++ vacation days...that is slightly over 2 months...yes- you can argue that you work 40h/week and only get paid for 36h...hence the additional time off....many of your colleagues in other part of the world is still working 40/h and paid so much less than the Belgian employees....

Might as well and eliminate company benefits. CBRE and JLL benefits here we go

True that employees in Belgium are too expensive for employers: ⅔ of that cost is for the governments (lost count, we have 6 or 7 in our country the size of a handkerchief), ⅓ is for the employees, who pay more (direct + indirect) taxes than almost anywhere in the world.

(Western) Europe is too expensive, especially the Belgian and French employees, due to high cost for the employer....Bye2 (Western) Europe and Welcome (Eastern Europe)...

For the Hungarian plebs there is no commuting allowance, no nothing. I would not be surprised if they reduced cafeteria though as that is the only real benefit they are giving us. Just so we don't starve.

Next to come (in Europe): change in commute allowance, cafetaria allowance, health plan reduction, no compensation for working from home and pay your own electricity and heating and WiFi (although governments have compensation plans for this which costs EM nothing), fire some more (good) people, move even more jobs to India.

All these nickels and dimes saved on hundreds of people do not match 1 exec salary.

It probably cost more to mail out the notification letters and cancel the cards of existing card holders who are no longer eligible than the company will save!

@1usc+1dH0kc34 Gets it. Some of you others don’t. It isn’t about the minuscule loss of benefits. It is the pettiness of removing a benefit that doesn’t move the needle for the company but just shows employees how valued they are.

Do you realize how minuscule are these “savings” at the scale at the company? This makes no difference at all, it’s just that some pr_ick got orders to cut expenses and came up with this ridiculous nothing, so he can put it on his PDS and grab the next promotion.
It’s maximum negative impact (at a time when the morale is abysmally low) and minimum benefit for the company.
If top management would have any brains, they would hunt down and throw out of the company self-serving crooks who take decisions of this kind. And then you have the trolls who come and tell you that it’s no big thing. Man, this company is so totally f- up.

Oh god the entitlement is real.
You know that outside of US there are no such benefits and you people are still extremely overpaid.

They nickle and dime current employees that are away from family for weeks at a time making the company money.

They really don't give a cr-p about ex employees and their families.
