Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

My offer leaves me with zero severance

So I’m to to relocate, stay in a dead end role “transitioning” or quit without pay. The relocation option is a joke, I’m not moving. They want me to transition for a year. What kind of miserable existence would that be. I have too much energy and ambition for that. So in the end, it’s a termination with no severance. Keep it classy fiserv

Any time a person is separating from a company (unless they're quitting to go to another job and it's amicable on both sides), they ABSOLUTELY should consult an experience labor attorney and negotiate better severance.

Every company will tell you they don't negotiate different packages, but they absolutely do. The minute they know a lawyer is involved, they will sweeten the p-t somehow just to move it through.

You usually can't just "demand" it and you have to be smart about it. It sometimes means you have to wait a little longer for the payout as negotiations ensue (which many people cannot afford) but it is definitely do-able.

There are whole books and websites about this topic and anyone in this situation should look them up.

Just say, "I've been CEO here for X number of years and I demand a severance."

It worked for me, it should also work for you.

You can in fact just demand a severance

Since when can you demand severance? A lot of stuff seems made up on this forum, this one seems a bit over the top. Please tell us how we can go about doing this,

It’s all a big joke to fiserv. When someone does take the relocation, HR laughs and goes oh sh-t, this awkward. Now we have to RIF them in 6 months.

You don't have to relocate. You don't have to do any type of transition/cross-training activities. You can in fact just demand a severance and get on your way. You don't have to be miserable; haven't many of us been in a sea of misery and dread long enough? If I'm your close friend, I'm telling you to take your ambition and energy (along with that severance) and pave the new path. Seriously. It's a good option.

They try to spin it and put the decision on the employee when in fact they really leave no option to stick around that benefits the employee at all. It's smoke and mirrors just like everything else they try to sell you. Place is a joke. FU FB you piece of trash.
