As opposed to history class, this is family history, I.e. reality.

The fact it took the government 40 years to think of making some compensation says a lot about the ruling class.

This place remains so comical: the head of the so-cells D,E,I program is liy Wh-t. The main sponsor for the Asian network is a British Wh-t* woman. You have got to be kidding me .

You must have not listened in history class. Many of them sued the organizations involved with the internment camps. A Japanese Citizens league put pressure on the government to investigate and in the 80s Reagan started a program to pay them back. Almost 2 billion dollars.

Lots of them faced continued discrimination when they returned to their homes in the US. Many lost their homes when the government deleted their IRS records.

They did not “just get over it”.

Speaking of Japanese, you know what happened after Japanese-Americans were put in camps in the 40s? They got on with their lives, as hard as that was to do.

Should be a lesson to all, instead of playing the blame game.

The thing your missing is that you don't cure discrimination with more discrimination. Identifying a problem is fine, but it doesn't legitimize a "solution" that has no possible chance of success.

The cure for hitting your thumb with a hammer is not to hitting your index finger next.

@2ivf, once again ignorance is dangerous. Not surprised by your your opposition or others who agree with your sentiment. What happened a hundred years ago is is still relevant today. Read any readily available half-way decent housing redline, political gerrymandering, education or employment study(including Wells Fargo). Or do you not read? Interesting that when it applies to DE&I the typical privileged response is "that was years ago...get over it", but when privileged folks are under fire the typical response is "Never forget".

There are plenty of very successful people in our society that aren't straight White males. Which is to say, anyone can succeed with proper effort. This isn't a hundred years ago anymore.

But I understand that it's easier to whine about things that happened to dead people from a prior generation as a vehicle for free stuff at the expense of others that work harder/smarter today.

But that free stuff ain't happening. Not now, not ever...

I'm sure it's fun to fantasize about though.

For all of you who think DE&I = being handed something you didn't earn, I have 2 things to say:

  1. educate yourself, as you're clearly ignorant about the history of this country
  2. how many of you were accepted into college, frat, sorority, employment, social clubs, etc. as "legacy", but have the gall to complain about affirmative action?

DEI scam, we all see it. Let us be evaluated for the skills and performance (including code of conduct)in the work place. Nothing more.

Free men aren’t equal. Equal men aren’t free.

Think on that for a while. It’ll get you to an aha moment.

Tech Control is especially notorious . They promote from within with utter disregard for DEI. Check this yourself.

So it is totally false to say anyone is monitoring it.

Diversity and Inclusion in socialist literature are about the Cloward-Piven strategy. Having to ask for permission to hire based on age, race/color, or gender category is as much discrimination as excluding based on the same. All of this makes companies less profitable and more likely to lay off.

DE&I = "I want to be handed something that I didn't earn."

Gee, I can't imagine why no one actually takes 'DE&I' seriously. When necessary though, we'll all pretend like we do 🤭

This might be unpopular but I’ll say it anyway. What if dei is fighting a lost battle and all this means the end of full time employment as we know it. What if (out of abundance of caution) employers will only hire on contract basis in the coming future?
I know that if I had my own business that is what I would do in order to avoid discrimination claims from the lazy, incompetent and/or entitled part of the general population. White does not equal privileged. White individuals also come from disadvantaged environments and face obstacles and challenges. We all do, pretty much except the ‘top 2%’ (vs everyone else at disadvantage), and I don’t see a point in dividing the population further. Obstacles and challenges due to race is just one factor in all this. Women are discriminated for wanting ( or having to) to carve out time for their children. Single parent families face even more challenges and there are single father families across all race groups. Immigrants (who could also be single parents) are discriminated based off their accent or stereotypes pertaining to their country of origin. Vets are discriminated. Even Southerners are discriminated for their accents. It just goes on and on. I’m not even touching gender and orientation because I’d rather live in a world where people are accepting of each other despite their private choices in their private time and within the privacy of their bedrooms, and what do we care about how we look and what dress code should be anyway while we can work remotely wearing pajamas for the most part and forgo the power suit.
I just wish people found compassion and acceptance rather than on what’s dividing them. Dei is focused on division and will only result in more division. What we focus on always multiplies. I wish people focused on acceptance and love.

The problem with DEI efforts is that you're trying to solve at the wrong end of the equation. Stay in school and eat your vegetables.

You can ‘call’ all you want. I forgot to add I also interviewed (and am awaiting an offer for) a role sourced through an agency that over doubles my pay. This is the model I foresee going forward. Woke dei obsessed workplaces will create a slow and incapable workplaces with the impact of what the unions have. I will sit on the sidelines to be called when there’s a need to bring the ‘consultants’ in, so that stuff gets done. I’ll be paid more and work less. So I don’t really care about all the nonsense and the longer I think about it the more I find myself in support of dei initiatives.

Hiring alone is only a tiny part of managing resources and workload. The issue is when firing decisions are made through dei lens.
There are qualifications and there’s the performance and work ethics. Do you think people who know that they’re tough to get rid of will strive to bring work results? I doubt it.
All this dei work will translate into unfair working conditions and different expectations towards people based on things like color. In a long run these large woke companies will crumble while white workforce will move on to self employment or entrepreneurship. I get approached for jobs at other banks every day but will not interview with any of the woke banks. I am a minority candidate also and very diverse. But I don’t find victimhood appealing because I do have the capacity to compete, qualifications, skill set and work ethic. I don’t need handouts.

I was in a meeting with a senior HR executive who said - and this is an exact quote - "All hiring and firing decisions are being looked at through a DE&I lens".

This wasn't some flunky manager speaking.

Wells has been doing this for years . We interview a lot of minority candidates . We will never give them a job of course. Some groups are particularly bad . The risk and control groups are the worst .

The only reasonable outcome of DEI is when a minority is hired and was at least as qualified as all other applicants, both minority and non minority. Every time one gets hired who is not the best qualified, DEI suffers in imagery. The Equity part of DEI is damaging at its core. It means that an area or department or company needs to have a certain amount of minorities hired, not just interviewed. If 10 are interviewed, and one gets hired who was the most qualified, but not a minority, isn't the company better off? According to DEI, the answer is no, and that is a problem. DEI is an example of government getting too far into the matters of a business. Hiring the lesser of the interviewees is damaging to the progress of company goals to put out the best product to entice the customers. One excuse for the existence of DEI is that there is systematic racism and sexism and other isms. But when was the last time you knew of an HR department not willing to interview minorities? It really does not exist, and if it does it is so small that it does not register enough to force this DEI stuff upon corporate America to the extent that it has. DEI ignores opportunity (interviews) , and instead focuses on Inequity, or outcome (hired). There has to be a better way and DEI is not doing it. Let's get a program where we can all focus on continuing and bettering opportunity for all, not forcing us to look at outcomes.

@1otq+1dI23lI5 most of tech is minorities. you would have to go out of your way to have an interview without a person from india or 5 interviewing a new hire

WFC already does this. You can't hire anyone without approval unless you have at least one minority in the interview process.
