Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Working overnights..

Do other clubs have employees stay until 3 or 4 in the morning or have people come in at midnight and not get shift premiums? Ours does it almost everyday..

Actually our club is not in the boonies and we were club of the year last year so yes it can happen you get all your stuff done and accomplish stuff if you stop complaining and do it!

And they can't force you. Especially if you are FT and it is outside your block. Just saying.

It's the same as using associates in areas that aren't their own that pays more. So long as it isn't daily over an extended period of time.. they get away with it. It's their loop holes.

weird isnt it... how management can go against policy when they want... but boy if you suggest it the world wild stop spinning.... so many times over my 31 years i have heard " its company policy now" when they want you to do something ... there was a bit of time when the company directive was to not stock an item until it was two layers or less. We did it for just a while then because our managers thought it looked bad they lied to us saying home office changed their mind.. It was confirmed to me HO had not changed it... any time a policy change helps the workers management always tries to not go with it. Believe me management hates the pay raises. And believe me they would have kept that a secret too if they could have !

If your getting everything done in the time allowed with no issues, your in some low volume club in the booneys. At my club we get so slammed we get lines that stretch half way though the club just to use self checkout. i literally have to push people out of the way just to be able to get close to the exit door. i get managers literally threatening me not to bring out a lift onto the floor while its open because its way too crowded all the time. You ever try to stock something after the doors open and there is a line 5 members long just to ask you question. Yes they literally line up lool.

No our club still comes in a 4am no one works overnights we get everything done in the time allowed with no issues. I guess it all comes down to who your team leads are and managers. If you like the people you work with them you get the job done. I’m not saying it’s not stressful it is but it’s something we all signed up for when we choose to be merchandisers for Sam’s Club

As a long time overnight associate, I would take a pay cut to go back to graveyard shift.

I was reading on Walmartone that the $0.50 night differential came back as of 9/21/21. They just didn't advertise it.

It was in the job description in fine print when I got moved to day shift. It said may require working over nights if needed.

Yea. We do the 9pm start time a little too frequently. So cheap. Never should have gotten rid of it. Because we seem to do it too often and the work load is too much on a daily basis. Sign changes never done. Those seem to be the first thing that doesn't matter when we are behind.

yea basically at our club for the holiday season we re-activate what ever 3rd shifters survived the purge and make em do a 3rd shift 9pm-5am until Jan 2nd. we reward them by giving them fridays and saturdays off till the the holidays are over then drag em back to am shift.
