Laid off

Tis the season, and I've been tapped. I've been wary for years and am finally at peace.

For someone who said to just resign: Unless you have a new job offer lined up for a steady revenue source, you would be losing out on the severance package. Don't do it!

My friend who was laid off during the summer also got an email which was titled something like “catch up”. He knew right then and there that he was going to get his “death notice”.

To answer some questions: Tax and Accounting, just a handful in my team but am unsure of the larger number.

Look out for an unexpected Teams meeting invite...

Sorry to hear since it’s so close to the holidays. I hope you have a decent severance, with the bonus paid out too and PTO.
What department?

If you’re near retirement age do not make it easy for them. Make them have to deal with you.

Congrats! You will easily be able to find an organization that values you and will pay you more fairly than “the answer company”

I remember sitting in the office with my boss (bit of a schmuck) and the HR lady they flew in from Eagan...either they had already laid off her function in NYC, or they wanted someone I didn't know to be the random stranger who laid me off.

My boss was nervous, because as mentioned, he was a schmuck. He invited me to a random meeting "1-1 catch up" on an empty floor, and I knew immediately what it was...it being November and all. As I walked in, I laughed and called him a liar because it wasn't a 1-1 with the HR lady there. I smiled the whole time, and left the room happy. They let me finish out the month, so I had time to say goodbye to folks I cared about.

I heard my ex boss continued his ways, pi---d off everyone he worked with, and was let go soon after that. I have been able to give him a couple bad references since, as he reached out to my network. Which is nice.

I was on the bench for a while, but did land and landed well. It'll be fine!
