Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

An interesting move by GE to split into 3 companies announced this morning (Nov 9)

The company announced that it will eventually split into three, “well capitalized” and “investment-grade” companies focused on the aviation, healthcare and energy sectors.

The company said it plans a spinoff of GE Healthcare in early 2023, with GE expected to retain a 19.9% stake in the business.

GE will also combine its GE Renewable Energy, GE Power and GE Digital businesses, then spin that company off in early 2024.

The remaining GE will be an “aviation-focused” company.

HON would need to split off Aero to interest GE . They would wait awhile to see where the stock settled.

But again, why would GE want Aero? Engines? Legacy AvEl?

Better to split off AvEl and sell to Otto or any of the other companies they have outsourced to in the past like Duncan.

Same for engines. Are there any new development projects?

I bet you're right. General electric will buy us.

Good, I'm glad that company finally died.

Behold, Id--t Jack Welch's final legacy.

I believe you will see auto companies do this in the future as well. That’s how they can claim all electric because a wholly owned sub will be heavy duty and sell gas/diesel engines while the consumer side sells electric. Obviously this is just my guess but I can see a “GM Consumer” and a “GM Heavy Equipment”.

Eventually GE-Aerospace will buy Honeywell aerospace by 2025. Honeywell can rid themselves of the aerospace industry to focus on software. Good for GE. Good for DA.

Honeywell should have done this a long time ago.

This will indeed pressure Honeywell to do the same! What effect that will have on employment and benefits is hard to estimate except the pessimist in me says that the various negative trends will continue. They don't have to though.

Yea, GE did a 1:8 reverse stock split in early August to make their share price look better for investors. The share price had been languishing around $10-$12/share for several years and the reverse split changed it to ~$100/share. Something had to change.

So much for "synergy"

A similar fate awaits Honeywell. Cote started it (he's a Jack Welsh disciple). And DA will continue it.
