Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Dec. 1 Vax Deadline

Just curious… what happens if we don’t verify our vaccine status by Dec.1?

I’m fully vaccinated but wondering how colleagues will be impacted as well as legal ramifications of a vaccine mandate for corporate staff vs. manufacturing / retail not being required.

Also the fact that we don’t have a weekly test option is surprising and counter to Biden’s Vax or test policy for employers. Thoughts?

I haven't been vaxed yet and HR called me. They said that if I don't get the jab by Dec 17th, I'm going to be fired on January 15th. I also asked them what it meant to be non-compliant and they couldn't answer that question.

With the latest news with courts and OSHA, we should be able to negotiate a nice severance or file suit.

Some of you should look up “at will employment”. If Nike wants to require a vaccination they can. Some of you are confusing mandates with Nike’s very broad right to set its own conditions of employment.

If you don’t want to be employed come December 1 then just keep “resisting”. That’ll get you a pink slip and probably a reduced (non-CDA) severance package. For that reduced severance you’ll have to sign a waiver stating you won’t sue Nike for any reason. Then you can have fun explaining to your new potential employer why you no longer work at Nike. At which point that new potential employer will say “Thanks but no thanks”.

Resistance is futile. If you need to learn that the hard way go for it. No one will care.

OSHA backs off for now but will woke Nike as well? From many I’ve talked to that are in the same position here, they have been blown off with nah responses. This place sucks. Diversity and inclusion rules here, unless it comes to decisions over your own body.

As you said the 5th court of appeals made a final update on their ruling. If Nike continues with the mandate ( it seems they will) I would think they will open themselves up to liability from lawsuits so they're no longer offered any legal protection. Not that they were in the first place. A Cease and desist order from a judge is the final authority on the matter, therefore it's unlawful to mandate such a order form OSHA thus making it null and void.

No update. All I know is after dec.1 you loose badge access and are considered non-compliant. No idea what that means

If you are reading this, PLEASE speak up within your teams, to your managers and reach out to friends. There are a lot of us that are not in favor of this mandate. We just need to find each other.

Don’t comply. I’m not and know many others that won’t either. Let them fire you. It will work its way through the Supreme Court.

The 5th Circuit has already directed the Administration to cease and desist due to grave constitutional grounds.

The reason this stuff keeps happening is because we let it.

The Comirnaty Pfizer shot has been approved by the FDA, but when you go to CVS to get your 3rd booster that’s not what you’re going to get because it’s not available yet. The FDA is misleading the public, the FDA is basically the marketing branch of Pfizer at this point. Shocked that so many very intelligent Nike employees blindly trust our Government.

@4nsg - not all vaccines are mRNA. If you don’t want mRNA go get J&J; it is a traditional denatured virus jab. So, you can get the jab and keep the job, and avoid mRNA if you want to.

I thought oregon had a law that prevented business from requiring vaccines of their workers? Do we just throw out all the laws for covid?

Nike doesn’t require any other vaccines to work there. And the Covid shots aren’t traditional vaccines they are a mRNA gene therapy, with no long term studies to support effectiveness. The Polio jab is a real vaccine that works, it prevents you from being infected with Polio and from spreading Polio. The Covid shots don’t do that.

Nike as a company can require what they want. Just like they do with other things (like, all the other vaccines people have gotten, and wearing shoes....)

Federal appeals court has ordered Biden to stop the mandatory vaccine policy. A three judge panel said the mandate grossly exceeds OSHA’s statutory authority. So it doesn’t seem like Nike can legally enforce a mandate for now.

The statements below are demonstrably false. The Pfizer mRNA vaccine was fully approved for people 16 and older back in August. This is clearly posted on their website:

This is not about public health and the more we comply the more our rights will continue to be taken away. The shots don’t even work and unless you’re over 80years old and obese you have an over 99.7% survival. Why isn’t natural immunity being considered? And why would healthy people need to submit to a test every week? These experimental shots are destroying your immune system and your health is more valuable than your job. Nike mandating the vaccines that are ki----g athletes in record numbers is peak 2021.

get the vaccine and everyone can move on. get away from your "research on facebook" and look around at those you are associated with: all fringes and extremes. you do not see the big game that others don't see, others are not sleeping in ignorance and you are the only "woke" ones. this is a public issue, man up, get the vaccine, so we can all get back to some normalcy before the next sh.t hits us...you guys are pathetic.

HR has dismissed all the exemption requests from talking to many people that filed for them. So I guess now your badge is turned off on Dec 2nd, not sure if they notify manager or what after that. But if you have pto maybe just use until Jan 1st and hope HR wakes up, or just find a new gig.

So not all retail is exempt - it’s done state by state, county by county. But generally speaking they would have a really hard time attracting employees to work in states like florida and Texas with a strict vax mandate, in Oregon at whq it’s not a significant risk for talent loss (they’re operating under the assumption that most people are either already vaxed or will do it) but not putting in a hard vax requirement will cause a lot of people to refuse going back to work for safety concerns… anyways they need to reopen the office because, as one of the largest employers in the state, they promised the government a # of employees based in Oregon (for income tax revenue) in exchange for corporate tax breaks….
Re your question about how they’re actually tracking, who knows - we’re not the most organized company.
