Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Is there anyone who refused to do overtime?

I’m not in a position to get into any conversation with the manager because I don’t want to lose my job because of it, but I can’t work so many overtime hours anymore. They want the work to be done within a certain time and that's ok, but it is impossible to expect the employees to simply agree to so many overtime hours in order for everything to be done. Has anyone tried to talk about this with their superior and does such a conversation have any effect?

No need to talk. Just don't do it. Simple. If you don't have time for overtime you shouldn't be forced to do it. What will talking about it get you?

No overtime. Equals no job.

You’re still a future shaper. Your future begins here.

If you work unpaid overtime, then you are allowing the company to steal from you.

If your company will lay you off for not working unpaid overtime, you are being coerced into working for free.

The solution is to not work for Honeywell, and ensure everyone you know, knows not to work for Honeywell. And for everyone they know, to know not to work for Honeywell.

Don't have any such conversation with your manager. Have the conversation with your peers.

There is no rule that salaried employees must even work 40 hours a week. You get paid the same is you record 35 or 45 hours. The only rule is that you must properly charge the time you do work.

Now the fun part. If you can meet your goals working 35 hours a week, you can not be penalized during your review as well. Except... you are judged relative to your peers. If they put more hours, then you can be 9 blocked.
So, if you and your peer all refuse to work over 40 hours, there is no basis for a 9 block rating for not working overtime. But the manager or director will be PIPed for not being as motivational as their peers.

Yes. My boss was really fixed on EEI and I was informed multiple times I need to improve.

The ultimate result was a big raise and employment at a much better company.

I highly recommend it!
