To be clear, everything in EM world is about perception, not reality. These people are NOT high performers. They are perceived to be and this is all that matters.

Managers who fall off the management track often drop very low over time because they became technically obsolete. Watch the ones that drift back into technical roles, if they do not "Shine" they will PIP

Yes, supervisors, managers and executives can and are put into MLRP. Especially in the service groups. It is all driven by assessment group. CLs 28 - 29 grouped together and 8% were placed into MLRP. Even the CLs 30 + placed people into MLRP. None fail, but those unexpected retirements are the give away.

Can but won’t.
Technical goes overboard first, because managers are the best and brightest.

Yes, it can and does occur, just not often. Supervision and Management are very high performers with loads of talent, skill and wise knowledge. Due to this, it’s unlikely to occur as much as it does for instance with the lower performing masses that make up the bulk of the organization.

Managers are rarely PIP’d because this would reflect badly on the executives that approved putting the person in that management position.

When Managers are PiPd, the worst that will happen is that they will be in "Advisor" position, although in fact they will still receive the high salary that they used to have...I have never heard about people being demoted (in CL) at the company....I never heard people are being demoted from T2 to T3....

A supervisor can be PIPed in theory. And no, they do not rank themselves but of course they could make sure that their reports in the same rank group are ranked low to save top positions.
But the reality is that they are rarely piped because they are already considered top talent.

Have never seen it happen. They will PiP every last worker before someone on Management/Development track at SLS level or above gets the boot. It is a low effort/high paying job guarantee. You just have to sacrifice your integrity - easy for most

Supervisors don’t rank themselves. Putting someone else doesn’t guarantee them a spot at the top. Id--ts.

Yes, it all depends on the AG (assessment group) they're in.
However, there's normally a mix of individual contributors and supervisors/(junior) managers in every AG so it's hard to say who gets the boot.

It really sucks when your manager is in the same rank group as you and all she has to do is put someone at the bottom to save herself.

They can but it’s very rare. I like to call it SLS+ armor. It’s very difficult to pierce and almost guarantees you a job for life
