If the economy turns around, do you anticipate any Thomson Reuters layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

2018 was far worse.
Although there certainly are layoffs every year in TR and they go up and down in terms of scale, however, the impact in Ann Arbor this year is beyond anything seen in any facility in the past few decades. Remember that Ann Arbor was a major site. The building was acquired just a few years ago, housed as many as 1,700 people, and was planned for over 2,000. TR is so siloed now that it's hard to comprehend what will be left after the next few months, but suffice it to say the layoffs have been massive, and are still coming.
And no, in Ann Arbor TR it's not like any other company.
We have layoffs every year, regardless of the economy. Expect it to continue indefinitely.
There are posts like these in all threads. Most likely a host side bot designed to stimulate traffic. I.e. "Insert [company name] here".
Nothing to get ruffled about.
Sensed this wasn't a genuine post, clearly not the only one that thinks that it sounds like one of those planted questions at corporate meetings. Maybe try "Hello, fellow kids" next time.
Half a dozen people in my NY team were let go this week.
People are saying this is a diversionary post by HR/Mgmt? If so, what exactly is the point of it? For the life of me, I can’t understand the reasoning except to annoy and irritate.
The TR Legal pensions will do a small payout in 2023 and 2024. They have made it clear that you must be employed the December of each year to receive the small payout. So it is obvious that the American employees in Tech and Ops will see major layoffs in the next 3 years. . The legal side with all the attorneys will be safe as that side is frowned upon for outsourcing by the law firms. Wake up.
This is a diversionary tactic posted by HR to deflect interest away from the current round of RIF's . Pathetic!
With inflation running so high, the economy is not turning around but TR is going to be TR no matter what. Annual layoffs.
Seems weird to worry about 2022 when people are being RIF'd as I type.
Read the room, OP.
A leopard doesn't change it spots.
Lol wut? Must be an HR person posting this. Didn’t even read two or three posts down. Well done, HR
“Do you anticipate any Thomson Reuters layoffs?”
Is water wet?
It's not the economy. It's short term cost cutting to boost the appearance of profitability.
HR once again trying to pre-empt things.
