Earliest to give notice

Hanging on for the bonus payout. What’s the earliest I can give notice to help with transition and still get the cash?

Resign the day it posts to your bank account.

If you resign prior to payout you won't get it. Wait until you get it. Even if you put in 2 weeks prior to drop date WF can stop it.

i would wait until it hits your account and cleared and that you've moved the money to your brokerage account. i wouldn't trust any company's ability to act nefariously. this isn't specific to wells fargo, it is a good rule of thumb to go by.

You can make your last day on the day they pay out bonuses. You have to be an active employee when they pay out bonuses on 2/4.

I disagree. I would put notice on Wednesday when paystub hits the system.

The pay period that will have the bonus ends on 1/28. Files are sent to payroll on 1/31 with it being processed so you can see your pay stub by 2/2. I would recommend not giving your notice until that date because at that point, they are unable to make changes. Bonus payment will be deposited in your 2/4 paycheck.

the pay period before payout- as long as your notice period includes the bonus pay date you'll get the bonus. but why would you stick around longer? Just negotiate a signing bonus with a new company to cover it, that's what I and others I know who left did.

@cjv quit damn near a year ago and you're still posting here?

If you're looking for new jobs, never hurts to mention you're focused on remaining until that bonus payout. I know of a situation this past year where someone got a new job but was wanting a 4 week lead time before accepting due to the bonus payout. Well, the new employer decided to give a signing bonus equivalent to the WF annual bonus just to get them in the door two weeks sooner.

I quit the Monday after bonuses were paid last February. So glad to be done with the WF clown show after 17 years. Wait until at least the day the money hits your account.

Absolutely don’t let them know you are done until the money hits your account.

Never believe anything until it comes to pass......wait for the deposit. They would tell you "ANYTHING" at Wells to manipulate you to their ends. Trust no one.
