Just imagine the confusion that would be generated if a Native American was in IT....

"and the people in India were lying about when it was fixed/not fixed"

This happens way to often in the offshore guys I deal with.

@1fmn+1dMyjijB wells fargo just doesn't care. They know. They don't care. They have all sorts of international diversity training about how to get along with other cultures and what the cultural differences are. This isn't in any of their training and yet it is so rampant you have to be purposely blind to not see it.

It's just another way the "good old boys" get to stay in power and have someone else pushing their misogynistic agenda.

Another thing that isn't mentioned? the caste structure in India and how it impacts work in India and in the US. (it's a train wreck and most americans don't know anything about it and its impact on tech...note...if you are wondering why a junior dev who sucks can steam roll over a sr manager you may be looking at caste issues and family influence on other families in India)

There needs to be more complaints through ethics line and other channels against the clear bias Indian men have for hiring other Indian men as well as how they treat women, I hear them talking down to Indian women on calls all the time. Clearly from this thread, I’m not alone.

@fvd, I so agree. They think they are so much better. I had one that said my design was a throw-away. And he said that in an e-mail that went to high-level executives. He had no clue to what the design was about or even where we were in the analysis. He is just an angry, misogynistic little man with a small appendage.

@nwj+1dMyjijB many americans were kicked out of IT due to agreements with India. Software developers and call centers were hit the hardest.

@icj UAT was limited to a select few from the groups who would use it, and even then UAT did not mirror production, so it was useless for UAT.

@qlm+1dMyjijB I have yet to be hired by an indian man. I have been hired by men of other races and other cultures (as well as women of other races and cultures) but that is a huge nope for indian men. They also treat the women from india very poorly (even worse than women who are not from india). I think we went backwards as far as womens rights when we placed men from cultures that do not respect women in the workplace in power.

Is there a correlation in the number of Indian men in tech with the lack of women? Given how women are treated in India in addition to they always hire Other Indian men

@dus+1dMyjijB do your own research then. Look at how many women are managers in tech at wells fargo (compared to men) and how many were promoted into that position (compared to men) and then take a look at the percentage of women in the world. All you need to do is use some logic that doesn't include denial.

@jip+1dMyjijB this is one of the most sexist companies I have worked for. I have never been treated like a secretary in any other company. My work quality is exemplarily and my experience outshines 99% of the platforms tech experience as far as leading initiatives (with a proven track record). Wells Fargo tech is extremely sexist.

@xqq, your experience is just that. However when you make generalizations based solely on your experience, then your statement about how women are treated in terms of promotion is deeply flawed.

Hey Saul,, why bother asking us to to post questions you obviously are scared to address? I cannot imagine why morale is so low and this site is more popular than your AMAs.

I am not finding the pluralsight tech courses, such as Python or Hadoop, helpful. There is zero interaction. It's like listening to an audio book. There are better and many free interactive courses on the net

@sby+1dMyjijB, do you have better data than the person making the gender observation base on what appears to be anecdotal?

You cannot say lack of promotion of women is inaccurate if that is our experience. Good for you but in our tech group women are treated as the note takers, admin assistants even when they are skilled engineers and tech analysts. We are also few in our group. I'm glad you have positive experiences, not all of us have

@sby+1dMyjijB I suggest you review that there are more women than men in the world and women are only 30% of the management teams (and less in tech). Sorry but men are not better than women at management so your logic is false.

@icj+1dMyjijB there was no UAT for tech teams AND the super users had an environment that didnt match production at all. So now the super users are learning what to do while they are trying to train people and troubleshoot.

@mag your statement that Women are not promoted is inaccurate and incomplete.

Promotions have not been forthcoming in the new CS dispensation. Gender has nothing to do with it.

It is better not to view things from gender or race lenses.

Saul is laying about the data validation. The CIs weren't all imported and then there was a fix to that and it duplicated all of the data and then they had to fix it again (and the people in india were lying about when it was fixed/not fixed) and many users werent migrated correctly. The product owner said that the data was worse than they originally thought. All of this was this week.
