Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Don't expect Verizon to have your best interest in mind

A large publicy traded corporation will never have loyalty to the worker. It just doesn't make sense to and isn't in the DNA. The leaders answer to the CEO who answers to the Board who answer to the Shareholders who don't give a rats derriere about you or me. It is what it is. The leaders are expected to make money for the shareholders. Period. If you are in the way of that, off you go unless your direct management can make a business case for why you are worthy to be retained. In most cases, you are not that irreplaceable. I know it hurts to hear it.

I'll take this as a compliment that someone copied my post from the "We are totally worthless to them" thread where I responded to someone whining about how the company doesn't care about us.

What is the purpose of a CEO? If they can't do the job of every employee themselves? Why doesn't the board of directors just run the business physically instead of looking at numbers on a piece of paper.
