Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I have a non-layoff question. Please don't get mad!

If you are offered a job with a minimum pay greater than your current salary, is it 100% sure that you will get that bottom number? Say it's a 16k bump. You are NOT getting anything higher generally speaking, are you? 🤔

I'm a bit of a fool because I'm revenue generating currently. I wouldn't be in the new roles. I'm ready to poke my eyeballs out over this customer though. It's worth a gamble.

The reply that said verbal means nothing is absolutely correct.

Also, you should be aware that a written agreed to contract can and may also be changed at ANY time. It is good at the time you agree to it but how many times have we been told "Sorry, things change". Remember, ATT means "At This Time".

Also be aware that you might be being brought on to be a sacrifice for any future cuts to that department so they can keep their present "team" intact. This has happened to 2 people I know, they were brought on and less than 6 months later the "team" had to downsize so, since each of them were the newest, they became unemployed. It was also discovered that one of the groups had previous knowledge that the ax was coming and that is how they kept their "team" intact.

I wish you good fortune but remind you, caveat emptor...

If a promotion from one level to the next 10% raise or the minimum of the TSR if 10% doesn’t get you there. If it’s a lateral with higher TSR than you’ll be raised to the minimum TSR if not already there. Typically you’d get a 5% bump. That’s the standard in the Org I’m in.

Several factors play into it including geographical zone as that determines what the range is then they will put you in the target range which is usually around a 10k middle of the range so a range inside the range and likely you will be at the lower end of that green bar to start so they have flexibility in your future raises.

Just an fyi - verbal means nothing - do not make any decisions until you get your official offer letter for either position. Good luck and Congrats!

kqf+1dNrVV8h, I got $14000 in extra bonuses for doing a kick a-s job this year. Yes, I am the sort of employee who stays around. Not that I haven't faced layoff in two roles. But I've landed on my feet thankfully.

It is likely the offer will be the next job title minimum. Sounds good.

Please, someone tell me this post is a joke. Is this the caliber of employee that AT&T entertains on their payroll?

There's no verbal compensation offer, just the job offer. I was going to be happy with 16k more but 28k more??😱 They aren't making a decision on it till next week though. I just hope it comes before my formal offer. Not that I'm getting an offer for the $$ role. But not knowing is hard!!

your job offer letter will tell you exactly what the compensation will be. There's no guess work if you have an actual offer in hand. If it's a verbal off the cuff quote there is zero assurance

Forgot to say it's an internal move. I have a verbal on one, but interviewed for another today that pays 29k more. I think the 16k more one with the offer is a better more challenging choice. I just hope I get offered more so i can say yes and not look longingly at the other job's prospects for mo money.
