This whole thing about "feedback rich culture" started about 2 years ago, and maybe was meant to be something 'transformative', but then was eclipsed by The Transformation. FRC was stillborn from the very beginning. I'm surprised people still mention it.
The feedback culture is useless because it rapidly descends into the Uber system: A 5 is great but even a 4 is very bad. Feedback then becomes nothing but high fives and self congratulations: everything is going GREAT even when the enterprise is sinking into the mud. The titanic sinks as the band plays on.
“Feedback”, uh nope. Never ever once have I ever believed it’s anonymous. I know of supervisors who were pi---d as he-l about receiving negative feedback and you can bet they were on the case to figure out who did it. As someone else said, “drink your Kool-Aid”, smile, tell them what they want to hear and take your paycheck. Always have a Plan B in this day and time. At the end of the day this is just a Squid Game. “Green light” gotta go!
Management was asked how do they plan on stopping retaliation for negative feedback and the response was they hadn't figured that out yet.
The majority of the managers who survived transformation are the same micro-managers who are still around asserting their authority. Try giving upwards feedback, but make sure you have a plan B after.

The problem is, everyone throws around the “feedbacks” like the $50 R&A’s. And they all hurry to get the “allotment” out. Another facade to endure. Don’t worry, they will change that eventually
Chevron has gone to $h**. Reviews are worthless. Promotions decided by people who have no knowledge of your success or failures. They don’t care about you or your family. They only care about if you are in their social network. Not about what you accomplish, only who you know. I’ve worked harder and provided more results than I ever have but I have a very average rating. CTC is stupid. There is a reason attrition is so high, even though management denies it. So full of it.
Feedback rich culture is the 'next generation' of the old 360-degree review program. Anyone who was duped into believing they could be honest in such settings is now a former employee.
"Feedback rich culture" is another catch phrase to fool the younger employees into thinking they really have a say in things, and to fool the college kids into signing on with Chevron. Older employees understand that this, and "open door policy" are just lies. Nothing could be further from the truth than FRC.
I worked for a guy who hand selected a subset of his direct reports so he received no constructive criticism. This same manager disregarded customer/business unit feedback provided about your performance because he felt he knew better than anyone else
