Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Hydrogen-powered vehicles

Hydrogen fuel-cell technology is becoming hype. Ford has experimented with fuel cell variants of Focus and Fusion, Edge crossover.. I’ve talked to some people who think the company should have put more focus on FCEVs. It doesn’t have much to do with cuts, but I wonder if in your opinion Ford really needs to experiment a little more with hydrogen powered vehicles?

I believe the fleet/heavy truck industry will lead the way on hydrogen. If it trickles down into the average user it will be through technologies that are developed in those spaces.

AOC will think it’s the same principle as a hydrogen bo-b , denounce it , and the rest of the imbeciles following the science will fall in line.

I worked on the Ranger fuel cell program with Ballard in the late 90's. We were able to develop a viable model however it was not feasible to build and sell.

Twenty years later, maybe production costs for the fuel cells are more in line with other power trains.

I'm still just annoyed the Focus is no longer on the US market. My 2012 is getting up there in miles but I guess I'm getting something from another company this time.

BMW, Toyota and Honda are pursuing this. Fill-ups are faster than charging. Compressing and sealing are tricky. Byproducts of combustion are not totally clean
