False Org Re-engineering Hopes

Deadwoods Dave Interesting that Arvind thinks re-engineering the comp plans will help. It’s been done before - reps being forced to sell the product of the day, no matter how much of a dog it is or whether the market needs it. We had years of “flog the cloud products” and here we are.

Perhaps there should be focus on the products themselves and the skills and experience of the people selling them. Too many junior people trying to sell in areas that need experience (like security) and all the good experienced people are gone. My LinkedIn feed is full of juniors joining IBM but I never see senior experienced people shouting from the rooftops that they’ve joined IBM.

@2cxm+1dSO1mM8, agreed and one of many problems is that many IBMers don't know their products outside of their micro-segmentated product range.

Our clients buy from people they like, people who understand their business, and people knowledgeable about the IBM product portfolio. If IBM reps fail on just one of these, clients will not give us their business. We used to score high in these matters.

These simple rules have always been like that, and they will not change. It is really not very complicated.

Drifter managers are also juniors in experience no matter how much they claimed to be in the seniority levels of management. Those managers have many useless management only meetings to strategize business they have no clue about.

Fake news. What… are you connected with a bunch of new college grads?

THUS you see why AK has moved the company to Enterprise only. There are not enough experienced reps left. He had to deploy them to the “big boys” and dump all of the rest of the customers to the channel. Funny how that works! All of your experienced folks are also older. Thanks Ginni It was the kiss of death to save a buck via layoffs. Hopefully the RH reps will come up to speed as the last of the experienced IBM reps retire out. Changing the compensation plan is just a play to keep the experienced IBM reps around for a couple of more years to help season the RH reps
