Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

No motivation, no loyalty, no trust

Like any company, Chevron also wants highly motivated employees who give their best, as well as loyal employees who do not leave the company at the first opportunity (rather than waiting for Chevron to cut them).
However, this is no longer possible, as both motivation and loyalty are based on trust.
I don’t think that even 2% of employees here really have confidence in this company and its management?

I heard before that all decent Australian employees have posted out for jobs in other places chiefly Houston but also some inside Tengez.

ABU 5.32% additional bonus on base this year due to exceptional performance. Rumours of head office moving to Perth due to lack of high quality employees in California. Confirmed via email sent to out last week by MW.

MW's Chevron couldn't care less if you "add value". That's an old pre-Chevron Way concept, I think it goes back to the 90's. MW and his flunkies only want you to make profit for them, so they can pay off their exec bonuses and the dividend. You'll get any scraps left over. MW's Chevron prefers not to invest a nickel in your career development, and doesn't care if you stick around 1 year or 100 years, as long as you continue to contribute to their profit.

@1wsn, You may be taking about Chevron 15+ years ago, but from that point to now, Chevron doesn’t care much if you add value or not. They only want you to do you job, mostly deliver your tasks on time and not pester the bosses. If you can manage that, you have a chance of keeping your job until the company hires a consultant to come in and tell them who to get rid of. It’s that impersonal these days. The company doesn’t care how hard or smart you work. If you cost them too much and you’re not in the clique, you’re out

I lost all my motivation after we started "winning in any environment". MW has severely damaged the company from an employee prospective.

The only 'motivated' and 'loyal' employees are the hangers-on, the high pots, and the relatives of management. The last six years have shown how much of a sham Chevron initiatives are. Make as much money as you can, learn as much as you can, then move on to a real company.

Chevron is no longer a "family" (a la JW and O'R), it is now a cut-throat business where you're lucky to have a job and they'll cut you in a heartbeat. Try and get some experience and career development in that environment.

During my years as a supervisor I could not help but feel better about employees who complimented me in a non-obsequious way. I also could not help but feel less good about employees who openly criticized me in front of others. One girl even told me I was fat.

Seriously!! It does not matter if you add value, it only matters is if you have sucked up and made your current boss feel good!!

Welcome to the real world. If you want to survive the future layoffs, and there will be many of them, you have to ask yourself one question, "Did I add any value today?". If you can consistently answer "Yes" to that question, then you do not need to worry about layoffs.

I am confident MW will layoff his employees at the drop of a hat. As an employee i have no confidence that management will do right by employees. The only thing they care about is dividends and share buy backs.
