401-K Match Cutoff date?

I'm negotiating a start date for a new employer. Can anyone confirm the cutoff date for 401-k match eligibility? I believe it is Dec 15.
Thanks!

I’d check your incentive plan as well.
Sip stops as soon as you give notice, the notice weeks do not count.

Give a notice at the end of Dec so your last working day is on early Jan. You keep full month of health insurance in Jan. Keep 2-3 weeks for yourself to relax. HON Health insurance will still be valid. Then join the new job. That was my strategy and worked quite well.

I believe healthcare benefits last to the last day of the month you leave. So leave early in a month t the end of a month and save you roughly a month health insurance cost.

I did this a few years ago. My site was one of the aero sites that closed for around 12 days at the end of the year. So my incentive to stay was about 8 paid days off. I gave notice Jan 2 and worked until the first Friday in Jan. I think it was 3 days. Got the match, got the paid days off no problem. I would do it again. Stay until the first Friday in January. Notice or not.

To get the full holiday pay, you actually have to work the first day after the holiday, so your departure date would be the 1st Tuesday in January, not Monday. I'd just leave since HoneyHell expects you to work through your holiday anyway.

If it were me, I'd stay until 12/15 and leave first Monday thereafter.

@hbm: Nah, stick around for the full month of December, get the holiday pay and leave on Monday, Jan 3.

I would submit a 2-Day's notice on Dec 15. When they RIF people, they get no advance notice. 2 days is generous.

@vwx: You might reconsider that plan to give two weeks notice on Dec 2 and assume Honeyhell will honor it as continued employment to Dec 16 and you will get your 401k match.
I personally know of a coworker that tried that with the "two weeks notice plan" several years ago in December in the morning , was terminated and walked out on that same afternoon and lost the match. That day was his last day of employment on the books. You might wait until early January, collect your holiday pay and then simply walk out.
If you don't have any plans to ever return to Honeyhell, two weeks notice is not necessary.

Thanks! Planning on submitting my resignation on Thursday, Dec 2.... Effective Thursday, Dec 16. I'm so done with this place.
